At a Meeting of the Selectmen of Watertown at M' Samuel Pierces on the 7th day of Decemb' 1730. At Said Meeting the Selectmen Agreed with M' John Ormes of sd Town to Take and keep the Widow Webb for the Space of half a Year from the day he Shall take her And to provide for her good and Sutable meat drink wafhing and Lodging during Sª Terme; And Sª Ormes to have as a reward therefor from Sd Town the Sum of four Shillings { week for evry week during ye time he Shall keep her, and if any Extreordnary Charge Shall happen by Sicknefs &c To be reafonably Allowed therefor by the Town, And Said Ormes to take with the Said Widow her bed and beding and her Smal Cheft. Sª Ormes being prefent Agreed to what is above written. At Sd Meeting the Selectmen Appointed Mefsrs Jonas Bond Thomas Hammond & Edw. Harrington three of ye Selectmen to Attend at ye Next General Sefsions of ye peace to be holden at Charlfton to prosecute ye Selectmen's Complaint Againft the Afsefsors vizt. At a meeting of the Selectmen at M' Thomas Straights on the 22ª day of Decemb'. 1730. The Selectmen being Informed y' there is one John Thatcher come to live in Watertown who came from Suffield in the County of Hampfheir and came to Sd Water- town ye 24th day of Novemb'. Laft paft and now refides in ye Houfe of Sam11. & Ebenezer Thatcher in Sª Watertown, alfo yt their is one Stephen Holland come to Live in Sd Watertown who came Laft from ye Town of Stoughton in ye County of Suffolk who came to Watertown ye beginning of this Inftant Decemb'. and refides at ye Houfe of ye Widow Ruth Coollidge in Sª Watertown, Their

Circumftances being Such yt the Selectmen refufe to Accept of them to be Inhabitants in Watertown ; did order and Direct the Clerk to write a Warrant, Directed to Ebenezer Stone Conftable of Watertown, forth with to Warn the Sd John Thatcher and Stephen Holland forthwith to Depart out of Watertown & no longer to refide therein.
At Sd Meeting ye Selectmen ordred the Town Treafurer to pay to M' George Lawrance the Sum of Twenty four Shillings, out of ye Ufe money yt was paid into ye Treafury by the Truftees of sd Town. to be Improved by ye sd Lawrance to procure a Gound for ye Widow Wyeth. the Selectmen alfo ordred the Treafurer to pay to M' George Lawrance ye Sum of five pounds for his keep- ing Eph™ Smith and is in full of ye grant made for ye Support of the Sd Smith ye Laft year. And to George Lawrance Juner the Sum of Eleven pounds Ten fhillings for his keeping ye Widow Wyeth one year ye year being up ye 10 day of Jany Next. At Sd Meeting ye Selectmen agre'd upon Calling a Town Meet- ing, Accordingly ordred ye Clerk to Write warrants to ye Several Conftables of sd Town to warn ye Freeholders and other Inhabi- tants in the Eafterly & Wefterly Precincts of sd Town who are Quallifyed According to Law to Vote in Town Affairs to Meet at the Publick Meeting houfe in ye Eaft Precint in Sd Town on Wedenfday the 30th of Decemb' Currant at Ten of ye clock in the fornoon for ye ends following.

To hear ye Petition of John Beemis Jofhua Biglow John Fiske and Sundry oth' Inhabitants of Watertown, who Complain yt at a General Town Meeting of ye Freeholdrs & other Inhabitant of Sd Town on ye fourth Day of December Currant it was Voted yt the Schoolhoufe in Sd Town Should be Improved in building two New ones whereas it was Not mentioned in ye Warrant of sd Meeting and therefore Irreguler & unlawfull & therefore pray ye Town may be Called together and that it may be put to Vote in a Decent and reguler Manner whether the Sd Schoolhoufe Shall Stand where it now is.

At this Meeting M' Samuel Pierce Jonas Bond and Jofeph Mason who were Appointed by ye Select- men to take an Inventory of ye Widow Webbs Moveables which were at M' Thomas Coollidges, Made report to ye Selectmen that they had Done Said Service, and Exhibeted a Sciddal of ye Same and there Apprizement to the Selectmen, as may Appear by Sd Sciddal under their hands on file.
At Sd Meeting M' Thomas Coollidge gave Acct to ye Selectmen that ye Widow Webb was Indebted to him for boarding or keeping of her (before the Town took ye Care of her) Thirty two weaks at 3 / # weak. which Amounts to £4-15 -.. . At Sd Meeting ye Selectmen According to the Vote of ye Town at y' Meeting on ye 30th of Decembr Laft paft Treated with M' David Stearns, he being prefent To keep the School at the Schoolhoufe where it now Stands, And the Selectmen defired M' Stearns Accordingly to remove ye School to Sd Schoolhoufe on Munday ye 18th. of January Currant.
At Sd Meeting ye Selectmen ordred ye Town Treafurer to pay out of ye money yt came into the Treafurey by ye Sale of a Mare belonging to Elnathan Whitney Deceafed Sold by ord' of ye Select- men To M' Daniel Whitney fourty four Shillings which was for money Expended & wintering a Cow for sd Elnathan. And to Doctor Colt ye Sum of Seventeen fhillings & 9ª for his looking after ye Sd Elnathan in ye time of his Sicknefs.
