The Petition of Nath1. Coollidge was Red to the Town praying for Releaf relating to the Charge he was put to, &c. Abot. the Land he purchafed of ye Towns Committee. And After Debate there upon,


The Vote was put whether the Town will grant Nath1 Coollidge any releaff or Confideration relating to his Charge in that Affair.


And the Vote past on the Negative.


The Petition of Richd King was Red to the Town praying for Liberty to Errect a Scaffold or Saw pit at the Southerly End of ye great Bridge as Set forth in Sd Petition. And after Debate thereon


The Vote was Put whether it be the mind of ye Town, that the pray' of ye Petition be So far granted, That ye Selectmen take a View of the place and Se what Manner of Scaffold or Saw pit the Petitioner propofes to Errect. And if it is not prejudical to ye Bridge Nor Discommode any other previlidge or Injurious to the publick, that the Petitioner have Liberty to Errect a Scaffold or Saw pit as prayed for and to Improve the Same, Dureing the Towns pleafure.

Whereas the Inhabitants of ye Town of Watertown did at their Meeting on the 23ª Day of May 1740 Vote the Disfpofing of Such Land as ly's to the Publick way's as Now Stated, and Any other Land that Ly's to any Town way that may be Spared, and Did Choofe us the Subfcribrs. to Agree wth perfons wt they Should give to the Town for ye Land Lying Againft their fronts And make Reporte to the Town &c. Accordingly we Report as follow's.


Agreeable to this Trust Repofsed in us we have Agre'd with Mrs Martha Coollidge That She Shall move out her front fence, on the South Side of the Town way Against her houfe, Northward into the Sd Way, So As to leave the Sd Way two Rods Wyde, South of a walnut Tree at the Eafterly end of Sa Way, And Two Rods Wyde at the South weft Corner of her Orchard, the Line to Run as it is now Staked out And She to Straighten her front fence on the North Side of ye Sd Way leaving Said Way full Two Rods Wyde, She Paying to the Town Treafurer for the ufe of ye Town when the Town Votes a Confirmation hereof to her the Sum of Twenty five Shillings for ye Land that may be taken in by the moving out of sd fence.


M' Sam1. Jenifon Alfo being Defirous of moving out his front fence Againft the Contray Road, And to Alow the Town A Valu- able price for what He Should Take in. We the Subfcrib's. Staked out the Line Againft his front as follow's. vivt. The High way to be full

Sam1. Stratton Surveyer his District to be, the Crofs Town way from the Contry Road by Eb' Goddard So by ye meeting houfe down to ye North Country Road And all other Town ways & High ways Eaft of sd Crofs way Encluding Sam' Fiske.

At a Meeting of ye Selectmen at M' Jonas Bonds on the Second day of April 1741. In order to board out the poor.


The Selectmen Agreed wth M' John Hastings to keep Ruth Maddocks a poor Child of John Maddocks (who has been at ye Charge of ye Town) for the Space of one Year from this date, and to provide for it good and Sufficant Meat Drink lodging, Apparrel of all Sorts needed and all Necefsary Sutable for Such a Child in its health. And He to have as a Reward therefor from ye Town the Sum of Seven Shillings per week. And in cafe of Sicknefs or any thing Extreordinary to be Alowed reafonable Satiffaction from the Town.


The Selectmen Agre'd with Simon Coollidge to take to board Margret Warrin (who is a Town Charge) for ye Space of one Year from this date and provide for her good & Sufficant food Drink & wafhing and Such beding as is Necefsary for her befides what She has of her own. All thofe Sutable for Such an Aged perfon, sd

Brown to preambulate on ye Lines with the Adjacent Towns. and to make return. Ordred ye Clerk to Notify ye Adjacent Towns. (wch was done)


The Selectmen preambulated the Bounds between the highway & Sundry Perfons Land which they had bot of ye Towns Comtee. vizt


With M' Jona" Brown, and his Line to be as he bot of ye Towns Comtee. Except a Small Alteration to make the Line more Strait and Uniform to Extend Northward about a pace at or Near ye Eaft End by ye great tree and and to throw out about a pace on ye knowl.


With M' John Tayntor his Line as he bot. of sd Comtee. viz from L'. Fisks Corner as Now fenced on a Streight line to Nine paces South of Sd Taynters Southeaft Corner as now fenced. an old Stump being in the Line. the High way being between 5 and Six Rods wide between ye Lands of ye Sª Brown and Taynter. Alfo with M' John Whitney and his Bounds to be as he bot. of Sd Comtee. and Now Set out by ye Selectmen by Certain heaps of Stons. the High Way at the South Weft Corner of Whitneys Land to M' Jona". Browns Bounds is Six Rods. And Againft Samuel Cooks Norweft Corner the High Way is Twenty Seven paces wyde. and Sd Way is four Rods and halfe wyde between Sd Whit- neys Land and M' W" Allens Land. And So Againft Sam11 Cooks the Line to be Continued on a Strait Courfe with M' Allens till it Enter Sects the fence by Some Smal Chearitres With MY Thos Saltmarfh for M' Wm Allen ye Way is four Rods & half wyde between Sd Allens Land & John Stouels.

Ordred ye Clerk to Isue out Warrants to warn the Freeholders & other Inhabts. of Watertown Quallifyed to Vote in the Choice of a Reprefentative to Afsemble and Meet at ye publick Meeting houfe in Sd Town on the fifteenth day of May Currant at Two of ye Clock after Noon then and there to Elect and Depute one or more perfons to Reprefent the Town at ye great and General Court or Afsembly Appointed to be Convened held & kept for his Majes. Service at ye Court houfe in Boston on ye 27 of May Currant.


And to warn the Freeholders and other Inhabts. of sd Town Quallifyed to Vote in Town Affairs to meet at Sd publick Meeting houfe at three of ye clock after noon of Sª Day for ye Ends follow- ing. vizt. (1) for ye Town to Choofe a Comtee. to joine wth. a Comtee. that may be chofen by Waltham (for ye end) to run the Line between Watertown and Waltham and Make Such Marks & Moniments that hereafter may be renewed when ye Line Shall be preambulated on. (2ly) To know ye mind of ye Town whether they will Let out the bank & landing places by Charles River. and choofe a Committee for yt end (3ly) To hear the Report of ye Comtee Appointed to Agree wth Perfons abt ye Land wch may be Spared Lying to ye ways againft their fronts what they have further done in Sd Affair. And the Town to Act thereon as they Shall Se Meet. (4ly) To hear ye Comtees. The Reporte of ye Committe Appointed to Agree wth Perfons what they Should give for the Land Lying to their fronts &c. was Laid before the Town and Red which is as follow's. viz *.


We the Subfcribers the Comtee: Appointed to Agree with Perfons againft whofe front there was Land Lying to the ways yt might be Spared what they Should give to the Town for Such pieces of Land & to Make Report to the Town for Confirmation. Having Agree'd wth Several Perfons. Do report as follows. M' Oliver Livermore defirous to move out his fence Againft the Town way Leading by Joseph Brights the Comtee Agree'd yt he SId Remove out his front fence in ye Manner and form as the Comtee. Staked it out which includs abt. Nineteen Rods of Land He ye Sd Liver- more paying to ye Town Treafurer to be Difpofed of as ye Town Se Meet, the Sum of Twenty Eight Shillings and Six pence when the Town Confirms it to him.


M' Joseph Bright Defirious to Streighten his front fence and to make Sd Way more uniform Defired to move out his fence into Sd Way. The Commtee Agree'd with the Said Bright He Should Remove out his fence on the North Side of Sd Way So far as the Corner of Coollidges Land and to run from Sd Corner on a Straight line to ye Corner post againft his yard, that gos up to his houfe as it Now Stands A Large Walnut Shagbark Tree Standing Directly in the Line Said Bounds or Line takes in about Twenty Rods of Land. alfo to Streighten his fence on the South Side of Said Way, So as to run from Sd Livermores Northweft Corner on a Streight Line till it Striks the fence Oppofite Againft the Barrs Leading up in to ye Barn Yard there being about Eight Rods of Land He ye Sd Bright paying to the Town Treafurer to be Dis- posed of as ye Town Shall Se meet the Sum of forty two Shillings when ye Town Confirms the Sd pieces of Land to him the Sd Town way is full Two Rods between ye Lands of ye Sd Livermore and Bright and Between ye Sª Brights Lands.


M' Joseph Harrington About to New Set his front fence againft the Land He bought of Thos Bisco Lying againft Elbo Hill Lane (So Called) was Defireous to move out his fence into Sd Lane, Accordingly ye Comtee. Agree'd with the Sd Harrington that he Should Move out his sd front fence to the Bounds that ye Commtee Staked out vizt. Agre'd wth ye Sª Edw Harrington that he Should Move out his fence So as to Conform to what was Sold before and to make a uniform Line, the Line to be a Little Bowing in wards as the Comtee has Staked it out. there being about forty Rods of Land taken in. Alfo he ye Sd Harrington to Straiten his fence on ye South Side of the Road runing from the Bow in the wall Straight to ye Corner of Capt Sam1. Garfields Land. which takes in abt. Eight Rods of Land. He ye sª Ed" Harrington paying to ye Town Treafurer for sd pieces of Land taken in to be Dispofed of as ye Town See meet the Sum of Six pounds Ten Shillings when the Town Confirms the Same to him.


Agree'd with M' John Sawin that he Bring out his front fence againft the Country Road South of his Houfe to ye North Bounds of sd Road as latly Stated by ye Court of General Sefsions of ye peace which will include about Twenty Rods of Land He paying there for the Sum of Twenty Shillings to the Town Treafurer when the Town Confirms ye Sd Land to him to be Difpofed of as the Town Shall See meet.

Agree'd with M' Thomas Wellington of Cambridge that he Should bring Out his fence againft the front of his Land in Water- town So as to Leave the Town way full three Rods wyde untill it comes down to the Brook and from thence to the way that Leads to Menotomy to be better than two Rods Wyde. which will Include Near one Acre of Land, He the Said Wellington paying for the Same to the Town Treafurer the Sum of Nineteen pounds when the Town Confirms the Same to him, to be Difpofed of by ye Town as they Shall See meet.
