Then the Sixth Lott or Nº 6. as above Difcribed was put up to be bid upon (Refervation of a Privilidge to Coollidges Grant being firft made and Referved) And One hundred and Sixteen pounds (old Tenner) was bid by Martha Coollidge for Sª Sixth Lot and She was the higheft bidder for Sª Nº. 6.


Furthermore the Comtee on August the 26th following Advertized the following pieces of Land belonging to the Town to be Expofed to Sale on the 12th of Sep' following the 20th of the Sd Augst. vizt. That piece of Land by the Meeting houfe by Lotts. That piece by the Wind Mill, A Small piece of Land lying between the Land of Joseph & David Coollidge And two Small parcels of Land Lying on both Sides of the Way Leading on the Weft Side of Kings Common.

And North with the Contry Road, and Jonas Bond bid Eighty one pounds (old Tenner) for Said firft Lot who was the Higheft Bidder for Sª Lot. Then Lot Nº. 2. was put up Containing by Estimation Two Acres and three Quarters and abot Six Rods Bounded Eaft by Lot Nº I. South by Land of Henry Spring jun'. Weft by Land Left out for the Accomodating the Meeting houfe the Weft Line being Seven Rods in Length and Northerly by the Way Laid out by the Selectmen Leading out of the Country Road up to the Meeting houfe. And Henry Spring ju' bid fifty Eight pounds old Tenner for Sd Lot Nº 2. and he was the higheft bidder for Sd Lot.


Then Lot Nº. 3. Containing One Acres lacking Ten Rods by Estimation Bounded Eaft by land referved for the Accommoda- ting the Meeting houfe ye Eaft line being Seven Rods in length Southerly by Land of Sam1 Barnard and Wefterly by Lot Nº 4. the Weft Line being parrellel with the Divifion Line between Sd Barnard & Jofiah Perry, and is Eight Rods in Length and Northerly by the Way Laid out by the Selectmen from the Country Road up to the Meeting houfe the North and ye South Lines being Twenty Rods in length Each was put up and Ebenezer Haftings bid Thirty pounds old Tenner for Sd Lot who was the higheft bidder for Sd Lot Nº 3.


Then Nº 4. or the fourth Lot Containg half An Acres and about Thirty five Rods bounded Eaft by Lot Nº. 3. Southerly by Land of Jofiah Perry Wefterly by a Small Corner of Land Adjoin- ing to Nath1. Brights Land, the Wefterly Line Runing parrellel with the Divifion Line between ye Land of ye Sd Perry and Bright and is two Rods in Length. And Northerly partly by the Country Road and partly by the Way Laid out to the Meeting houfe, was put up and John Kimbal jun' bid Thirty pounds Six Shillings for sd Lot who was the higheft bidder for sd Lot Nº. 4.


Then the Corner of Land Lying againft the aforesd Brights Land Containing abt five Rods butted Eeaft by Lot Nº 4. South- erly by land of Nath1 Bright and Elfe where by the Country Road was put up and Ebenezer Haftings bid Ten Shillings & 3d old Ten'. for the Same who was the higheft bidder.


Then the Land by the Wind Mill was put up Containing by Estimation four Acres and a half (there being Referved abot Three Quarters of An Acres between the Wind Mill Land and Land of John Sawin whereby the Southermoft pond is in Cluded and Left out for the benefit of Watering Alfo cut of abot 66 Rods at the Eaft Corner for the Accomodating the two Roads) the Sª four Acres & half bounded Northerly by the Country Road Eaft by the

here Difcribed was put up and Nath1. Coollidge bid Sixty five pounds five Shillings old Tenner for Sd four Acres & half who was the higheft bidder for Sd Lot or piece of Land.


Then a Small piece of Land Lying between the Town Way and John Kimbals Land was put up Containing About one Acres and Seventy four Rods And Samuel Barnard bid Twenty one pounds old Tenner for Sd piece of Land and he was the higheft bidder for sd piece.


The Next piece of Land put up was a Small piece Lying between the Land of Capt John Henderfon and ye aforesd Town way Containing ab. half An Acres and thirty Rods the Divifional Line between this piece and the Laft piece above Mentioned is a parrellel Line with the Dividing between the Lands of ye Sd Kimbal and Henderfon And Nath'. Bright bid Eight pounds old Tenner for this piece of Land who was the higheft bidder therefor.


Then the Next piece of Land put was a Slip of Land Lying between the Land of Ebenezer Chenry and the abovesd Town Way. Containing Abt. One Acres and thirteen Rods And Andw. White bid Eight pounds Ten Shillings old Tenner for Sd piece of Land And he was the higheft bidder for sd Land.


Then the Laft piece of Land put up was a Small piece Lying between the Lands of Capt Joseph Coollidge and David Coollidge Containing abt. Sixty Rods And Capt. Joseph Coollidge bid Seven pounds old Tenner for the Same and was the Higheft and only bidder there for.


And further That the Town Agreeable to their Vote Do Grant And Confirm to the Several particuler Perfons who were the higheft Bidders as Mentioned and Named in this Report viz. To Nathaniel Coollidge Nath' Stone David Coollidge Jona" Church Oliver Livermore and his Afsociate, Henry Godding Henry Holdin William Godding ju' Martha Coollidge Jonas Bond Henry Spring jun'. Eben' Haftings John Kimbal Jun'. Nath1 Coollidge Sam1 Barnard Nath' Bright Andw. The Report of the Committee Chofen to Agree wth Perfons what they SId. give for Land Lying to the Ways &c. is as follow's.


We the Subfcribers the Committee AboveSd Did on the Nin- teenth of Sepr. 1743. Agree with Jofiah Stearns that he Should move out his front fence againft Elbo hill lane from the Corner about Eighteen Rods in Length in the Lane Runing Straight from a great Stone at the Corner to the End of his Wall wch is abt. Eighteen Rods, in length which will inclofe abt. Six Rods of Land he the Sª Stearns paying into the Town Treafurey Twenty Shil- lings Old Tenner there for when the Town Confirms it to him.


Agre'd with Daniel Bond that he Should move out the fence belonging to the Estate of James Barnard Decd. into Sd Elbo Hill Lane at the turn of ye Corner going into Sd Lane Runing parrelel with the South fence about Eight paces and then turning Round- ing into the Said Lane and to Run to the Corner of Joseph Harringtons Wall which will Inclofe about Eight Rods of Land, the Sd Estate payind for Sd Eight Rods of Land into the Town Treafurey for ye ufe of ye Town the Sum of forty Shillings Old Ten'. when the Town Confirms the Same to sd Estate or to the heirs belonging to Said Eftate.


Agreed with John Sawin that he move out his fence againft the Town Way Laid out by ye Selectmen Weft of his Land So as to Inclofe a Small Slip of Land of ab' Eight Rods that was left out by the Selectmen between his Land and Sd Way Runing from the Southweft Corner of his Land till it Enterfex his fence again a few Rods Northward of his great Gate the Slip is four paces wide againft the Northeaft Corner of the Training field he the Sd Sawin paying into the Town Treafurey for ye ufe of the Town the Sum of Thirty Shillings old Tenner when the Town Confirms ye sd Land to him.


Agreed with David Stone that he move out his fence againft the Town Way By Simon Coollidges So as to Run from the South- eafterly Corner of sd Coollidges Land and So turning Rounding untill it Interfext the Sd Stones fence Again a little South of a white Oak tree which Inclofes about Twelve Rods of Land he ye Sd Stone paying into the Town Treafurey for the ufe of the Town the Sum of Twenty Shillings old Tenor when Confirms the Sd Twelve Rods of Land to him.

At a Meeting of ye Selectmen on the Second Day of December 1743.


It being Some time Since the Charges of ye Great Bridge over Charles River in Sª Town were Adjufted between the Towns Concerned therein the Selectmen Agre'd to meet on Munday the 12th of this Inftant Decemb'. at one of ye Clock after noon at Thomas Harringtons in Waltham Innhold' in order that ye Select- men of Wefton and Waltham may meet with them and bring in their Accts Relating to Sd Bridge that the whole Charge of Sd Bridge Since The Laft Adjuftm' may then be Adjufted between Watertown Wefton & Waltham According to Each Towns pro- portion. And ye Selectmen Ordred ye Clerk to Send to the Said Selectmen of Wefton and Waltham to Notify them of sd Meeting and Defire them to give their Attendance at time & place aforesd. (which was done)


The Selectmen having Recd a Notification from under the hand of H. Frankland of Bofton that he had Admitted in the the Houfe in Watertown wch He had Hired of M' Waldo One Nath1. Gammage & wife and three Children that he Came from Cambridge the 19th of Octob' Laft, the Selectmen refufing to Accept of ye sd Gammage Wife & Children to be Inhabts of Watertown Ordred the Clerk to Ifue out a Warrant to warn ye Sª Gammage with his Wife & Children to Depart out of Watertown.


The Selectmen having been Notifyed alfo by Daniel Bond that he had taken into his Houfe one James Coddingham & wife who Came from Waltham to Watertown ye 18th of Octo'. Laft and yt they are under poor Circumftances. The Selectmen Refufing to Accept of them to be Inhabitants of Watertown Ordred the Clerk to Ifue out a Warrant to warn ye Sd Coddingham & wife to Depart out of Watertown forth with. (A Warrant was Isued out agreable to the abovesd Orders of ye Selectmen).


At a Meeting of the Selectmen on the 14th. of December 1743. The Selectmen being Informed that there is one William Hook and Margret his Wife or one that He pretends to be his Wife come to Refide in Watertown who Came from Cambridge on the 13th Inftant and they are got into the Honfe where Benj" Chad- wick Lately Lived. the Selectmen Refufing to Accept of them to be inhabitants of Watertown Ordred the Clerk to Isue out a Warrant to Warn the Sd William & Margret forth with to Depart out of Sª Watertown.


At this Meeting the Selectmen Appointed to meet at Thomas Harringtons in Waltham Innhold'. on the 23d of this Inftant Decembr. (the Selectmen of Wefton not Attending the Meeting Laft Appointed) to Adjust the Accts of ye great Bridge over Charles River in Watertown and Ordred the Clerk to Notify the Selectmen of Wefton & Waltham of sd Meeting. At a Meeting of the Selectmen of Watertown Wefton & Waltham At Thomas Harringtons in Sd Waltham on the 23d Day of Decemb'. 1743. in Order to Adjust the Accts of the Great Bridge over Charles River in Sd Watertown. (The Acct were Adjusted and Proportioned as they Are Recorded in ye Treafury Lib 2 Page 49. And the Acc' on file in the file for the year 1743.)


At this Meeting the abovesd Selectmen Agreed that there be So much good Oak plank procured of 16 feet in Length & three Inch thick, as to Cover one peer of ye Bridge aboveSd as Soon as Con- veniantly may be and Conveyed to Sd Bridge. the Selectmen of Wefton were Defired to procure Sd plank and Convey them to Sd Bridge which they undertook to Do.


At a Meeting of the Selectmen of Watertown on the 23ª Day of January 1743. The High Way's in Sd Town being again greatly Incumbred with Ship timber, whereby the Town is in Dainger of being again Prefented, Wherefore the Selectmen Ordred M' Joseph Harrington Surveyer of High Ways Emediately to Remove Sd Timber from off ye Sd Ways and Secure the Same. And give the Selectmen an Acct of his Doings, and the Charge of Removing Sd Timbr. as alfo to give the Selectmen an Act. of as maney Perfons as he can git the knowledge of that Laid Timber in Sd Way's.


At a Meeting of ye Selectmen on the 30th of January 1743


The High Way's Near the River having been greatly Incumbred by Perfons Laying Ship timber thereon. whereby the Town was in danger of being again prefented. in ord' to prevent wch the Selectmen at y" Laft Meeting ordred Joseph Harrington Surveyer of the High Way's to Draw off the Timb' and clear Sd Way's and bring in his Acct to ye Selectmen at this Meeting, that prop' Steps might be taken to prefent thofe Perfons that are known to lay timber on Sd Way's at ye Next Sup' Court at Charlftown the Select- men having been advifed So to do by Council in the Law. The Selectmen therefore as they are Intrufted wth ye Prudencials of ye Town think themfelves Oblidged to do wt in them Ly's to prevent Charge Coming upon ye Town by Sd Timbr. Agreed that Joseph Mafon Esq' & Mefs's Oliver Livermore & Dan' Whitney three of ye Selectmen S1d. Repair to ye Sup' Court aboveSd and upon Advice to Inform againft Such perfons as proof can be made Againft that they may be prefented.

And in Cafe the Town Se caufe So to do Then to Grant Money for Sd Affair of Mending the Way's, and to Choofe the Surveyers of Hign Way's Collectors for to Collect or work out the Rates Committed to them.


Whereas the Publick Way's in the Town Near the River have been and often are greatly Incumbred by Perfons of other Towns Laying Timber there on whereby the Town has been put to Great Trouble and Coft and frequently Lyable to greater (Notwithftand- ing the great care that has been taken to remove sd Incumbrances.) by Reafon of Many Perfons prefuming to Lay y' Timber on Sª Way's (altho Cautioned Againft it) to the great prejudice of the Town.

To hear the Petition of Israel Mead Praying that the Land Granted to him by the Town may Extend its bounds further towards the River as Set forth in his Petition. And the town to Act their pleafure Relating to Sd Petition and we therein is Petitioned for.


To hear the Requeft of some of the Late Conftables for the Town to Abate Some Perticuler Perfons Rates in their Refpective Lifts wch cant be got. And for the Town to Act their Minds relating thereunto.


To know the Mind of the Town whether Swine Shall run at Large this year under the Regulation of ye Law in y' behalf made & provided.


Where as Several Perfons who bo' Land of the Towns Comtee before the Town was Divided and gave bond to Sd Comtee. have Neglected to Renew their Bonds Agreable to a Vote of ye Town.


To know the Mind of the Town, That if Sd Perfons or any of them do not Renew their bonds by the firft of May Next Agreeable to a Vote of ye Town and Conformatable to what others have done, That then the Selectmen Order the Treaf' to Commit the Bonds of Such Dilinquent Perfons in to the hands of ye Committee to whom they were given, And that ye Sd Comtee be defired to put Sd Bonds Committd to them in Suit at May Court Next at ye Cost of ye Town.


To hear the Petition of Jona" Church relating to the half Acres of Land his Wind Mill Stands on, that the Town wld pleafe to give it to him or other wife Sell that and more of ye Common Land
