DUNSMOOR.
FRED W. DUNSMOOR was b. in Charlestown Oct. 13, 1817; m. Jan. 1, 1841, Sarah S. Rounsevel of Unity, b. Jan. 11, 1820, dau. of Joseph and Betsey (Laughton) Rounsevel. They lived a few years in Unity and Dalton and then came to Claremont and lived on the Cupalo farm. From there they came to Cornish in 1874 and settled on the river farm formerly

owned by Edwin R. Shedd. They remained in town nearly twenty years, and in 1893 sold out and returned to Claremont, where he d. Dec. 30, 1898. Children :

GARDNER DUSTIN was b. in 1786; m. in Cornish Dec. 14, 1809, Mrs. Sarah (Lucy) Biddle, whose husband had been killed in 1806 while working on a buikling. He left one son, Baruch .* (See below.) Mr. Dustin was a carpenter and builder in Cornish till 1817 and then rem. to Roch- ester, Vt., where he lived till Nov. 20, 1830. He, too, was instantly killed at the age of 44 while working on a building. His wid. d. April 2, 1835, aged 44. Seven children, the first four b. in Cornish, the rest in Rochester, Vt .:
* Baruch Bildle was b. in Cornish Jan. 27, 1807. His father was killed before he was b. Baruch was a man of fine appearance and good ability and spent his life chiefly in Concord, being connected with the railroad affairs of the city. He m. Sarah Philbrick, b. in E. Concord April 3, 1814, and d. in Concord Ang. 7, 1896. Three children. He d. in Concord June 10, 1889.

2. ZEBEDEE2 EDMINSTER (Zebedee1) was b. July 15, 1792, in -; m. April 10, 1814, Tirzah York of Cornish, dau. of William and Lucy (Hilliard) York, b. 1796, and d. Dec. 28, 1876, in Windsor, Vt. They lived on the farm in So. Cornish, now owned and occupied by Charles S. Lear. He was a farmer, a man of unquestionable integrity and honor. He was rather an eecentric individual and of limited education. Yet he delighted in a gentlemanly address and deportment and he often used words un- suited to the case, that caused much fun for the fun-loving. Many of his expressions have outlived him and are still remembered. He was a good singer and for years led the choir in the Baptist Church on the Flat. His majestic bearing in the choir is well remembered by the writer. He left Cornish about 1850 (?) and lived in Claremont (?) till his death, April 16, 1858. His death was caused by falling off a load of hay, breaking his neck. Children, all b. in Cornish (order uncertain) :

By her he had eleven children. A farmer. He enlisted in 1862 in the Civil War, and d. in the service on Aug. 26 of the following year. (See Military.) His wid. afterwards, on Dec. 14, 1868, m. FAIRBANKS.
The Fairbanks are of English origin. The gencalogist of the family has traced most of this numerous family to one parent stock, Jonathan Fairbanks, who was b. in the latter part of the 16th century and came to Boston in 1633. After three years he settled in Dedham, where he spent the remainder of his life. The house he then built is still standing, having been in the family ever since. The Mass. D. A. R. have recently kindly assumed its preservation, with all the ancient furniture and relies identified with its history.
1. ABEL FAIRBANKS of the sixth generation from Jonathan, b. in Plainfield, Conn., May 12, 1754; after living a few years in Brimfield, Mass., and Sharon, Vt., came to Cornish in 1788 or 1789 and spent about forty years of his life, and d. in Fairfield, Vt., March 27, 1842, aged 87. He was a farmer and carpenter, of steady and industrious habits and mem- ber of the Congregational Church. He had been a soldier in the Revo- lutionary War. He m. Sept. 25, 1777, Hannah Hobbs, dau. of Benjamin and Elizabeth (Flint) Hobbs. She d. April 9, 1840. Children:

ii. JOSEPH, b. April 19, 1779, in Brimfield, Mass. Came to Cornish with his father, living for a time there; rem. to Sheldon, Vt., where he m. June 11, 1804, Abigail Smith. Had seven children.

Sept. 1, 1874, at South Cornish, in which business he has con- tinued ever since. Is possessed of a degree of perseverance that knows no defeat. He has been honored by filling many positions of honor and trust. Through his efforts the postoffice at South Cornish was established April 15, 1878, of which he was post- master till 1906. He is also extensively engaged in the manu- facture of cider, pickles and vinegar, doing a wholesale business.

ASAHEL POWERS FAIRBANKS, b. Sept. 3, 1806, in Springfield, Vt .; spent most of his life there, while in mature life he invested some capital in the Barnard farm (so called) in Cornish. This not proving a very profitable investment, he determined so to manage it as to lose as little as possible; so he came to Cornish, living and working and selling the property, thus spending some years in Cornish. He was a very energetic and able man; a prosperous farmer. During his last years he engaged in building operations. He built a fine res. for himself, also a business block, called the Fairbanks block in Springfield, Vt. He d. March 12, 1894.
FARNSWORTH.
DANIEL FARNSWORTH, JR., was b. Jan. 23, 1813, in Washington; m. first, Oct. 25, 1835, Mary Mead, who d. May 6, 1849; m. second, Aug. 9, 1849, Mary Ayer, b. April 26, 1814; d. Feb. 2, 1894. He was a farmer. Came to town in -, exchanging farms with Walter Foss and res. north of the Flat several years. He then, in 1890, sold out aud rem. first to Put- ney, Vt., and afterwards to Claremont, where he d. Aug. 5, 1907. He lived a very regular and temperate life.

FARRINGTON.
SAMUEL FARRINGTON, JR., came from Dedham, Mass., to Washington soon after the settlement of that town. He m. in 1775, Elizabeth Mann. Had a number of children but the record of but two has been found: 1. William, who removed to N. Y. state, and
2. ICHABOD FARRINGTON, who was b. -; m. - , Phebe Fisher of Clare- mont, b. in 1760, and d. April 6, 1841. They settled and lived in Clare- mont. It is said that he accompanied Captain Cook on' one of his voyages. Children, supposed to have been b. in Claremont (the order as here given may not be correct) :

vii. ICHABOD, JR., b. about 1794; m. first, Dee. 20, 1818, Betsey Patrick of Claremont, b. in 1796, and d. Oct. 27, 1841; m. second, -, Betsey Smith, b. in 1799, and d. Nov. 27, 1883. He, with his wives, always lived in Claremont. They had several children. He d. Dec. 16, 1878.

3. BENJAMIN' FARRINGTON (Ichabod?) was b. in Claremont. When young he came to Cornish and m. Aug. 13, 1807, Theda Bartlett of Cornish (pedigree unknown). She d. May 29, 1863. The record of his death has not been obtained. He was a carpenter and general jobber. Made a specialty of boring pump-logs and laying the same for conveyance of water. Children, supposed to have all been b. in town (order of birth uncertain) :

ix. WILLIAM B., b. May 1, 1825; m. Feb. 19, 1860, Harriet Ann Bach- elder, b. in 1836; d. Sept. 22, 1909. Three sons. He was a gunsmith, telegraph line contractor and a genius at any manu- facturing or repairing work. Lived in East Andover. He d. Feb. 22, 1903.
.Y. HANNAH, b. -; m. first, Gilman Stockwell of Croydon; m. second, Samuel Sherman of Croydon; m. third, a Mr. Clogston.
FELLOWS.
JOHN FELLOWS, son of Daniel Fellows, was b. in 1798, in Salisbury. At 18, he apprenticed himself to the Gilmore Brothers in West Claremont at the blacksmith trade. He remained with this firm till his marriage, Feb. 4, 1821, when he came to Cornish. He m. first, Temperance York of Claremont (?) b. in 1805, and d. Sept. 27, 1832. He m. second, Jan. 8, 1833, Lucy Robinson of Cornish, dau. of David and Anna (Whittaker) Robinson, b. Jan. 18, 1797, and d. Dec. 21, 1891. She had no children. Mr. Fellows settled in Slab City (so called) and worked at his trade till age and failing health caused him to retire. With his second wife he celebrated his golden wedding Jan. 8, 1883. He d. Oct. 10, 1884. Chil- dren, by first wife:
i. SUSAN STEVENS, b. Aug. 14, 1821; m. Nov. 9, 1847, Merrill Coburn of Cornish. Six children. (See Coburn.) After her husband's death on July 5, 1882, she rem. to Reading, Vt. She d. March 12, 1908.
ii. NANCY MARIE, b. May 28, 1823; m. first, Amos Morgan; one child, Aura M., who m. W. C. Johnson of Fitchburg, Mass., and d. Dec. 30, 1904; m. second, -, James H. Farnsworth, a black- smith of Windsor, who was killed on the railroad -. Nancy d. April, 1904.

iii. SARAH ANN, b. Feb. 29, 1825; m. Feb. 8, 1843, Hiram D. Bartlett of Cornish. Four children. (See Bartlett.) She d. May 9, 1896. JOHN H., b. Dec. 15, 1837, in West Windsor, Vt. He was adopted by Mr. and Mrs. Fellows Sept. 20, 1838, being the son of Jerry

FIFIELD.
FRANK ADDISON FIFIELD, son of Edward and Rosarah (Spaulding) Fifield of Plainfield, was b. there Nov. 24, 1852; m. first, Jan. 30, 1877, Kate S. Waterman of Lebanon, adopted dau. of Silas and Sally (Wood) Water- man. She d. about 1880, without issue; m. second, Feb. 6, 1882, Thankful Pardy, dau. of John and Phebe (Havens) Pardy, b. Sept. 27, 1856. They came to Cornish about 1885 and settled on the Alfred Nevens place, at that time owned and occupied by Moses Hutchinson and wife, caring for them through the remainder of their lives. Child, b. in Cornish :
i. ERNEST LEON, b. Sept. 17, 1888; m. May 4, 1910, Ethel M. Williams of Claremont.
FRED LOREN FIFIELD, a brother of Frank A., was b. in Plainfield Nov. 14, 1861; m. May 1, 1895, Ella, dau. of Henry and Mary (Sullivan) Thayer, b. July 4, 1868. They came to Cornish May 7, 1SSS, and settled on the Benj. F. Plastridge place. Children, b. in Cornish:
