MORGAN.
1. NATHANIEL MORGAN with his wife Lucinda (Spaulding) Morgan lived in Plainfield. They were married April 24, 1827. Mr. Morgan d. in Plainfield -, leaving four little children all b. in that town. About the year 1838 Mrs. Morgan, with her children, came to Cornish and lived several years in the Dr. Roswell Leavitt house, which her brother, Siloam Spaulding, afterwards owned and occupied near the Flat. The children were:
i. SUSAN H., b. Feb. 18, 1828; m. in 1855, Horaee J. Kingsbury. She d. Dec. 30, 1894.
ii. ELLEN M., b. Nov. 19, 1829. Never m. She. d. June 23, 1898. Was found dead in a field near her home.

JOHN MORSE came to Cornish from Walpole, Mass., where he was b. Nov. 11, 1752. His name first appears as a "private on the pay-roll of Col. Jona- than Chase's Regt. of Militia which marched from Cornish, Sept., 1777, to join the Continental Army under General Gates, near Saratoga." He m. first, June 4, 1779, Abigail Chase of Cornish, dau. of Dea. Dudley and Alice (Corbett) Chase, b. Nov. 9, 1759; d. July 17, 1792, aged 32; m. second, March 2, 1793, Anna Putnam of Cornish, dau. of Daniel and Anna (Chase) Putnam, b. Nov. S, 1764; d. Feb. 16, 1852, aged 87. He d. April 22, 1822, aged 70. Children by Abigail, all b. in Cornish:
i. CLARISSA, b. Nov. 1, 1779; d. Oct. 5, 1800, aged 21.

MURRAY.
ALEXANDER MURRAY, eldest son of Col. John Murray, was b. in 1741, in - He m. - , Eleanor Sloan, dau. of William and Elizabeth (Hamilton) Sloan, b. in 1741. They lived in Rutland, Mass. Mr. Murray enlisted in the War of the Revolution in May, 1782, and served till the end of the War, in 1783. About 1816, he came and settled in Cornish. Applied for a pension in May, 1818, and his claim was allowed, and he was pensioned from March 17, 1786, for the loss of three fingers on his left hand. He d. March 26, 1826. It is supposed that he and his wife both died and were buried in town, but no record or marked grave shows the fact. Children, supposed b. in Rutland, Mass .:

NELSON.
Curtis S. Nelson, Levi S. Nelson and John Nelson, brothers, came from Woodstock, Vt., in the spring of 1889. Curtis S. settled on the Horace Deming place and Levi S., a few years in School Div. 8, finally settled on the Moses Walker farm on Dingleton Hill. John Nelson, a laborer, without family, lived in several places. These were sons of Richard and Eunice Nelson.

NEWTON.
The Newtons that have lived in Cornish came from Grantham. Rufus and Laura W. Newton lived at the extreme point of settlement on the west- ern side of Grantham mountain. They spent their lives there. Had six children. Two of these became citizens of Cornish:

LUTHER NEWTON came from Grantham about 1843, lived many years at the Flat. He had previously m. - , who d. Sept. 4, 1844, leaving several children; m. second, Mrs. Susan (Bugbee) Miller. She d. June 1, 1849. (Another record says May 22, 1849.) She left no children; m. third, June 28, 1850, Mary Tasker, dau. of Benj. F. and Sarah (Farrington) Tasker. One child, Edith, b. Aug. 14, 1860, adopted by Stilman Coburn, and name changed to Coburn. The mother d. at the birth of this child. Mr. Newton soon after left town.
NORRIS.
PHILO NORRIS was b. Oct. 10, 1804, in Surry. He was the son of Elijah and Anna (Kendrick) Norris. Came in early life to Plainfield; m. Aug. 17, 1828, Angeline Stone of Plainfield, dau. of Capt. David and Ruth (Ken- yon) Stone, b. Dec. 9, 1802, d. Sept. 27, 1885. He d. July 8, 1888. They lived in Cornish several years, and for some years had charge of the alms- house before the county assumed the care of its inmates. Their last years were spent with their son-in-law, Henry A. Weld in Cornish. Children, b. in Plainfield:
i. ELIZA ANN, b. Sept. 6, 1829; m. April 15, 1852, Henry A. Weld of Cornish. Three children. (Sce Weld.) She d. Jan. 3, 1907.

NORTON.
JAMES and HANNAII NORTON were res. of the town, a few years at the opening of the last century. Aside from the town records, and a single tablet

THOMAS I. and MARGARET NUTTER, his wife, lived in town during the closing years of the 18th century, and, at least the first decade of the follow- ing one. After this the family evidently left town, leaving three of their children buried in town. In 1790, the family consisted of only himself and wife. Children:

JOHN LOW PAGET, the son of John P. and Agnes (Low) Paget, was b. in Scot- land July, 1821. He learned the stone-cutters' trade in Glasgow, and came from Strathaven to America, in 1841. Soon after arriving he engaged in the construction of the Sullivan Railroad, which passes

through a section of Cornish. Soon after its completion, he settled as a farmer in town, on the Nathaniel Iluggins farm, where he spent the rest of his life. He m. CAPT. SAMUEL PAINE was the son of Noah and Mehitable (Stone) Paine of Woodstock, Conn. He was b. May 11, 1744. Came to town soon after its settlement; m. Sept. 6, 1773, Lucy Hall, dau. of Rev. David Hall, b. in Sutton, Mass., March 19, 1749, and d. Dee. 2, 1817.
"Life makes the soul dependent on the dust,
Death gives her wings to mount above the spheres." (Inscription on her tombstone.)
He d. Dec. 13, 1834. They were both buried in Cornish. Children, all said to have been b. in Cornish:

PALMER.
REV. CHARLES MYRON PALMER, son of Asa and Pamelia (Rugg) Palmer, was b. Jan. 16, 1837, in Orford. Grad. Kimball Union Academy, class 1858; Dartmouth College, class 1862; Andover Theological Institute, class 1867. Was ord. at Harrisville, Dec. 8, 1868. Was pastor of the Cong. Church in Cornish, 1871-73, Meriden, 1873-81, also over churches in Saratoga, Cal., Westminster, Mass., Sharon, Vt., and Stoddard, where he d. Sept. 4, 1899. For many years he was president of the Alumni Association of Kimball Union Academy. He m. Aug. 26, 1868, Marion Woods Powers of Cornish, dau. of Obed and Cynthia (Comings) Powers, b. Dec. 3, 1838, a graduate from and teacher in Kimball Union Academy, 1863-64. No children.
PARDY.
JOHN PARDY, b. Dec. 7, 1828, in Plattsburg, N. Y .; m. June 8, 1850, Phebe Havens, b. Aug. 20, 1832. They had a family of eleven children, all b. in Plattsburg. Of this number, four rem. to, and become res. of Cornish and vicinity. In order of their birth, these are:

PARKER.
JOHN B. PARKER was b. in 1819. Came to Cornish about 1844 (?) where he lived several years. Had a fine musical talent and spent much of his time teaching both vocal and instrumental music. He m. first, in 1846, Marcia Ann Johnson of Cornish, dau. of Samuel and Ruhama (Luey) Johnson, b. in 1825, and d. July 16, 1848; m. second, June 27, 1849, Ellen E. Johnson, a sister of his former wife, b. in 1832, and d. March 24, 1878, in Washington, D. C. Both of these wives were buried in Windsor, Vt. In -, he left town and soon after went to Wash- ington, D. C., where he was in the employ of the government nearly thirty years in the Treasury Dept., Bureau of Statistics and Naviga- tion. While living here, he m. third, -, Lizzie Wilson of Washington. He d. in Washington April 12, 1891. Children, one by each wife:
