WILLIAM FURNALD, with Molly, his wife, and a family of nine children, ap- pears on the Cornish records. None are left in town to tell of their history. The cemetery records the death of William as occurring Sept. 7, 1816. Also of one of his children and of one grandchild. The hill where he lived, northwest of the Flat, has for nearly a century borne the name of Furnald Hill. All these circumstances lead one to infer that the family remained in town about three decades. There is no record of his wife's death in town, therefore it is supposable that, after the death of her husband, she left town, taking all her family with her, and no record or tradition has been found telling where they went.
