GREENVILLE Mo., Sept. 16 .- UPIArdle Hanner, 34, was shot and killed early today at his farm home two miles from Wappapello, by Sheriff A. L. Hughes, who with two deputies raided Hanner's home In search of liquor.
Sheriff Hughes knocked on the dvor and in a few moments Hanner appeared and fired at the officer. but the shots went wild. Hughes returned the fire, killing Hanner almost Instantly.
An Inquest will be held at Wap- papello Saturday by Coroner F. C. Yates.
Prior to the shooting. officers had arrested Hanner's fatherinlaw. Ed Neighbors, at Wappapello on a liquor charge and bad the latter in custody when they raided Hanner's home.
