Constable John R Hurts of Ash Grove is conducting an Investigation Into an alleged drinking argy a week ago last night which, he maya, result- ed In the death of an Ash Grove youth and the serious Illness of two others.


Constable Harris' contentions that the youth died from polsonous liquor were borne out by the attending phy- «cian. No ansiyas was made of the contents of the youth's stomach.

I. N. Newland, 86. a resident of Polk county for 84 years and vet- eran of the Civil war, died Sunday night at his home, five miles north- west of Walnut Grove, following a lingering Illness. Mr. Newland suf- fered a stroke of paralysis four years ago and had been confined to fils home since that time. Mr Newland was one of the leading farmers and stockmen of the Ozarks and was a big landowner in Polk county. Ile is survived by the widow, two sons and two daughters as follows: W. H.
