Mrs. Shockley was born at Saint .Thomas, Canada, and came to Springfield while she was a young girl. She lived here for many years. Carefully folding her coat and laying her purse upon it, Mrs. Shockley leaped from the center span of a bridge over the Missouri river at Kansas City. With rela. tives, she had gono to Kansas City un & shopping trip.
- A note found in the coat she left on the bridge provided the only mo- tive for her action. She wrote to
her daughter at Kansas City:
"Don't worry about me. I cannot stand the strain. My mind seems to have anapped. Let me sleep with my mother. So sorry to bring this to you. May God have mercy on you and keep you, my children. I did not think this ever would come to me."
Worried in Recent Years
Relatives said Mra. Shockley, who was 65 years old, had been depresged and worried In recent years. They would give no specific motive for the suicide.

An Investigation Into the death of Mies Elele. C. Farnsworth, Springfield war nurse, whose body was found yesterday in the Mis- sissippi river at Sc. Genevieve. Mo., Is to be conducted by the young woman's brother and Goad-Ballinger post, American Legion, aocord- Ing to an announcement made today by the Legion and a dispatch received by The Leader from the brother.
Suspecting foul pluy in the death of his sister. . Jesse Farnsworth. Corpus Christi, Tex., left St. Louis today for St. Generiere to Insist an autopsy be performed on his sister's body to determine whether she died by drowning.
To Probe Treatment.
The local Legion post bas announ- ced that it will investigate Miss Farnsworth's complaints that she was not given proper care at the Veteran's. hospital at St. Louis from which she disappeared.

Howell County Funeral.
One of the largest funerals ever held in Howell county was that of Jargde Monroe Endicott, pioneer mer- chant and flour . mill - operator of Pottersville Sunday afternoon.
Mr. Endicott's body was brought back to Howell county Sunday from Oll Hill, Kan., where he died last Thursday night.
· Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Dinsmore and 1 pon, Paul Dinsmore, of Paola, :Mr .. and Mrs. Charles Endicott of Wichita. and the widow, accompanied the body here from Ou HIUl. They were Joined in Springfield by .Mrs. G. O. Endicott and Mra. F. T. Jared, both of Springfield, a sister-in-law and niece of J. M. Endicott, who also at- .tended the funeral.
