Mra. Stark was the mother of Mrs. Highfill, wife of W. J. Highfill, cash- ler of the People's State bank at Thayer and also of Mrs. Ollie C. Lind- ley of Alton, superintendent of pub- Lo schools of Oregon county. ...


Although Mrs. Stark lived in the Omarks in Oregon county for & num- ber of years, it was not ;generally known that she was the grandmother of the noted movie actress. She was Virginia woman, having been bom June 22. 1054, of an old Virginia fard- lly, in Alexandria, Va., on the banks of the Potomac and in the shadow of ! the national capitol. Her father was Georgo Langley. an attorney of Alex- andria. She was married in Virginia In 1872 ' to . M. L. Btark of Brook. field, Va.


Mrs. Stark's husband was a direct descendant of General John Stark, sagacious commander of Revolution - ary war fame, which also makes the movie actress a direct' descendaut of that noted commander.

They were married at the home of Mrs. F. C. Bagby, 637 East Mon- roe street, by the Reverend James E. Becker, pastor of the St. Luke Methodist church, who for the past year had been a roommate of the groom. Mrs. Bagby and Mro. Min. Die Quigley were witnessre.
