Miles Harold Rogers. of Welser. Idaho, und two grandchildren, Evan Rogers Hammitt and Miles Samuel Rogers. Mrs. Rogers was born in Vermont, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Gosselin. She began teaching at the age of 15 and con- tinued in this work 12 years. She married Samuel Rogers in Hum- holdt, Iowa. The family moved to ¡ Springfield in 1891 and Mrs. Rogers spent 30 of her most active years here. It was only a few years ago that she went to live with her daughter. Mr. Rogers died In 1924.

Mrs. Sarah E. Rogers, 76, died at the home. of her daughter, Mrs. Charles Hammitt, In Miltom, Ore .. November 21, according to word re- ceived here by friend. Mra. Rogers for ten years was a member of the board of the Springfield public Ubrary and most of that time was on the book committee which is largely responsi- ble for the selection of all books. She also was a member of the Saturday club and the First Congregational church. Mra. Rogers resided In Springfield for over 30 years and had left here only a few months ago.

Father and Two Sons Killed When Auto Goes Over Embankment.


Three Monett men, a father and two sous. met death late yesterday when their truck plunged over an embankment into the water of Jei .- kins creek. 12 mitles south of Autola. They are Harry Perriman. 45. Eschat Raymond Perriman. 19, and William Deau Perriman, 21.


They were returning to their homes In Monett after visiting their farus near Jenkins, when the accident. hap- pened. Their truck. either because of the snow or a broken radius rod, 'left the highway and plunged over & 15-foot embankment. turning over


as it fell into the stream.


Neck Is Broken.


The truck cab was crushed. leaving . the three men imprisoned beneath the shallow water.


Mrs. Lester Long, who lives nent the scene of the accident, was the firat to discover it. Attempts to frco the men were at firat unsuccessful. It was not until an hour after the , accident and only after huge Jacks · had lifted the front of the demollehi- ed truck that the bodies were re- ,cued.

Hunting Accident May Prove Fatal == For Aurora Youth


Dangerously Injuredisn'thining accident yesterday Emorale hundred yards from his home near Madry, eight miles south of Aurora, Homer Jaynes, 22, former student at State Teachers college here,' was near death last night In an Aurora hospital.

when he stumbled and dropped hls .22 calibre rifle. The gun was discharged as it fell, the bullet striking Jaynes in the abdomen and lodging in the pelvic bone. Sur- fering grent pain' and weakened hy internal hemorrhages, the man dragged himself to his home and was taken to a hospital at Aurora. Dr. R. M. Smart said after an op- eration had been performed last night that Jaynes has but a slight chance to recover.


Jaynes left Stato Teachers col- lege here several months ago when his father, who operates a poultry ranch near Madry. was crippled In an accident at the farm home.

The lives of the male members of


her family were snuffed out late Wednesday when a truck skidded and hurtled over a 15-foot embankment Into Jenkins creek, 12 miles south of Aurora.

Death Follows Birth.


Because she was bedfast with a son born Monday, Mrs. Eschal Perriman was not present at the funeral. The body of her young husband was tak- ren from Aurora yesterday afternoon to Monett and left for the night near the bed of the young mother.


The casket was opened 'at her bed- "'de that she might view the corpse.


# The body was returned to Aurora. From the King Undertaking par- lora at Aurora. the bodies of the three victims were placed in three hearses and taken to the little church : ¡ at Leann, near the scene of the fatal ; accident. Services were conducted there and burial was in the I ::: e

Mrs. Harry Perriman. accompanied by her three daughters, Irene, Kath- . lerine and Lavone, saw the bodies of . her dead yesterday morning in the; Number parlors of the King Under- taking company. !

H. L. Coward, 55, brother of L. H. Coward, superintendent of Greene county schools, and formerly a resi- dent of Springfield, died at his home in St. Louis yesterday morning fol- lowing a lingering illness.

Tiro couples were married at the court house yesterday by the Rev- erend I. D. Ilarris, pastor of Grace Methodist church, a few minutes after they received licenses to mar- ry from Jack W. Mcker, county re- conder.
