Fu- neral services will take place at the Dale atreet Methodist church at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Burial will be in Greenlawn cemtery, under ithe direction of J. W. Klingner. FREDERICK R. STUART, broth- er of O. G. Stuart, Frisco freight agent in Lebanon, was killed on last Saturday, December 10, in Shang- hai, China. He was shot to death, two pistol bullets having pierced his abdomen. His body was found in the Chinese territory adjacent to the international settlement.
Mr. Stuart had lived in the Far East for a quarter of a century and formerly served in the United States consular and postal service in China. He also had served In the postal service in the Philippines .-- Laclede County Republican.

Miss" Etolla Gibson,"for "the"past aeven yeara head of the Latin-de- partment at the Senior High school. died at her home on East-Division street road yesterday afternoon. She had been ill for several weeks.
'Miss Gibson was born in Spring- field, and received her education at Drury Academy and Drury col- lege, where she was graduated in 1919. She taught for some yeara at Bacone college, at Muskogee, Okla., and later at Marionville, Mo. She joined the Senior High school faculty in 1918, and was made head of the Latin department in 1920.
Miss Glenn was a member of „the First Baptist church, of Zeti . Tuu Alpha, and of Chapter E. R. of P. E. O.
She is survived by her parents. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Gibson, and two brothers. C. C .. and R. B. Gibson, all of Springfield.

A group of relatives and friends will gather today at the residence of Mrs. Glen Marshall, & daughter. with whom the resides at McElhaney. south of Neosho, to observe the birthday of one who has seen the coming of four generations.
The three daughters, all of . whom live in the district, and the two sous, who reside at Eden Valley. Minn., and Lebanon, Mo., respec- tively. are the only children living of Mrs. Clark, who once mothered 18 -12 of her own and six adopted.

Ed Cruise, formerly of This City, Killed at St. Louis by Train; Was Maimed for Life When Engineer Here in 1907; Lost a Hand.
Ed Cruise, 66, formerly . Frisco engineer here, was instantly killed yesterday morning when struck by a train crossing the Merchant' bridge at St. Louis, according to word re- ceived here yesterday by his brother. W. P. Cruise. Frisco engineer, route 2.
The details of the accident are not known. He was employed by the Prisco as a watchman on the bridge.
Until 20 years ago. Mr. Cruise was an engineer on the Frisco. working In and out of Springfield. After Josing & hand in a wreck near Thayer, he was transferred to St. Louis.

W. Cotton Indi- cated foul play so strongly that the !ury recommended that the boy who did the shooting and his three com- panion: be held for court action.

A Double Tragedy.
Brooding and despondent because Die ville would not sollen to him Orville Means, 27. son of Mr. and Mrs. A. Means who live on route 2. southeast of Aurora two miles, en- tered a variety store where his wife was employed at Commerce, Okla .. last Saturday evening about 7 o'clock and without warning fired three shota at her. He then rushed Into the street and made his cacape.
Mrs. Means was rushed to the MI- ami Baptist hospital at Miami where her condition was reported by physi- clans as being critical. Only one bul- let took effect and struck her in the back.
Means. apparently deranged. 101- lowed his wife to the hospital. where on the top step to the entrance. he turned his gun on himself and fired a bullet into his"brain :-- He died at 8 o'clock Sunday morning without regaining consciousness.

News has been received here of the marriage of Miss Helen Kerr. daugh- ter of Mr. and Mrs. O. C. Kerr of Webb City, to Charles T. Jackson of Louisville, Ky. The ceremony was performed In St. Louis Saturday morning by the Rev. Tadlock. - Miss Kerr was accompanied to St. Louis by her brother. Herbert Kerr of Webb City. Mr. and Mrs. Jackson will make their home in Louisville.

Bernett. 67. member of a pioneer ( -esne count: family and mother of Herschel Bennett, baseball star, who died at 3 p. m. yesterday in a hospital here after an illness of two weeks. will be held at 11 a. m. tomorrow at the Elwood Methodist church. Dr. C. M. Brigyu, Who officiated at Mrs. Bennett's wedding, will officiate at the funeral services. Burial will be In Clear Creek cemetery.
