A WEST PLAINS MAN IS KILLED


Robert Martin, 24 years old, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe M. Martin of Weat Plains, was killed in an accident in Ban Francisco, Calif., according to a message received by his parents.


Messages state that the young man. who was employed as a civil engineer with the Pacific Gravel Co., of Ban Francisco, WAS struck by a gravei conveyor, and sustained a fracture of the neck.


Martin was born and reared In West Plains und was one of the city's most popular athletes.


Martin Is best known in basketball and baseball circles. He and Frank Ross were the forwards on the West Plains High school Zizzer basket ball crew when they won the South Cen- tral Association championship from Houston lo 1921, which was one of the greatest championship victories aver won by the local school.

"TJNOLE" JASPER RISENHOOV- ER, 100 years old, walked 12 mlles last week to get his annual shave. He lives In Oregon county six miles east of Alton. He walked to town, and then refused a ride back "home, returning by foot." He was 100 years old November 22.
