ARTICLE 24.
Voted unanimously that the Town Accept by way of Grant an Area of Land approximately 19,400 square feet Northeasterly of Homestead Road, as shown on Plan of Land in Lynnfield, Mass., December 20, 1960, George E. Hayes, C.E., to provide access to land now owned by the Town of Lynnfield.
ARTICLE 25.
Voted unanimously that the Town accept by way of grant an area of land approximately 3.12 acres Northerly of Edgemere Road (proposed), as shown on a Plan of Land in Lynnfield, Mass., for proposed playground area, January 30, 1958, George E. Hayes, C.E.
ARTICLE 26.
A motion was made that the Town vote to For- bid Hunting in the Town of Lynnfield by delet- ing the present Section 11, Chapter 8, of the Town's By-Laws and substituting therefore the following:
Section 11. "Discharge of Firearms or Ex- plosives." No person shall fire or discharge any firearms or explosives of any kind within the limits of any highway, park, or other public property, except with the permission of the Board of Selectmen, or on any private property for the purpose of hunting; provided however, that this By-Law shall not apply to the lawful defense of life or property, nor to any law enforcement of- ficer acting in the discharge of his duties. Any person violating this By-Law shall be punished by a fine of not more than $20.00 for each of- fense.
An amendment to this motion was made read- ing as follows:
"that the Town vote to Forbid Hunting in the Town of Lynnfield by deleting the present Sec- tion 11, Chapter 8, of the Town's By-Laws and substituting therefor the following:
Section 11. "Discharge of Firearms or Ex- plosives." No person shall fire or discharge any firearms or explosives of any kind except with the permission of the Board of Selectmen, pro- vided, however, that this By-Law shall not apply to the lawful defense of property against pests and predatory animals nor to the lawful defense of life, nor to any law enforcement officer acting in the discharge of his duties. Any person vio- lating this By-Law shall be punished by a fine of not more than $20.00 for each offense.
The article, as amended, was voted on and passed-222 in favor, 36 opposed.
ARTICLE 27.
A motion was made that the Town vote to authorize the Board of Selectmen to appoint a Library Facilities Committee, consisting of the Library Trustees and four (4) citizens to report to the Town at the next town meeting on library facilities in terms of plant, books and site re- quired to adequate Library service.
An amendment to the motion was made, mak- ing the article read as follows:
"that the Town vote to authorize the Board of Selectmen to appoint a Library Facilities Com- mittee. consisting of the Library Trustees, a member of the Capital Outlay Committee, a member of the School Committee or School De- partment and four (4) citizens, to report to the Town at the next annual town meeting on li- brary facilities in terms of plant and site required to adequate Library service."
The article as amended was voted on and pass- ed.
ARTICLE 28.
Following the reading of a report by the Plan- ning Board this article, noted below, was de- feated by a vote of 133 in favor and 163 opposed:
"To see if the Town will vote to amend the Zoning By-Laws and Zoning Map of the Town of Lynnfield as follows:
(a) By deleting subsection (3) of Section 1 (c)
(b) By revising Section 1 (b) so as to read as follows:

ADJOURNED TOWN MEETING HELD THURSDAY, MARCH 23, 1961
The meeting was called to order at 8:00 P.M. by the Moderator.
On motion by the Chairman of the Board of Selectmen, it was voted to adjourn until Mon- day, March 27, 1961 in the High School Audi- torium and Gymnasium if the business of the meeting was not completed in this third session.
ARTICLE 29.
Following the reading of a report by the Plan- ning Board, it was voted unanimously to take no action on this article, namely:
"To see if the Town will vote to expand the present General Business District on the Easter- ly side of the Newburyport Turnpike by extend- ing said zone, at its present depth, for four hun- dred seventeen and 81/100 (417.81) feet in a southwesterly direction from its present ter- minus."
ARTICLE 30.
After the reading of a report by the Planning Board, it was voted 219 in favor, 2 opposed, to amend the Zoning By-Laws of the Town of Lynn- field, Section 2 (d), Paragraph 11, by inserting after the words "bowling alley," the words "with not more than twenty thousand (20,000) square feet of floor area per establishment," so that Section 2 (d), Paragraph 11, will read as follows:
"Bowling alley with not more than twenty thousand (20,000) square feet of floor area per establishment, dance hall with not more than five thousand (5,000) square feet of floor area per establishment, indoor theater, billiard parlor, or pool hall."
ARTICLE 31.
Following the reading of a report by the Plan- ning Board, this article (noted below) was de- feated by a vote of 84 in favor and 116 opposed.
"To see if the Town will vote to amend that part of clause (g) of Section 4 of the Zoning By- Laws of the Town of Lynnfield which specify the required side yard depth and the required rear vard depth of the General Business Zone, by striking out the present requirements in the table for said zone and substituting the following distances:

ARTICLE 32.
Voted unanimously that the matter of this ar- ticle be resubmitted to the Committee. The article reads as follows:
"that the Town accept as a gift of certain land in Lynnfield owned by Koza, Hart, Rich and others, described as follows:
Parcel No. 1. Beginning at a point on the easterly side of the Town owned road leading to the Reforestation Lot, thence running easterly and southerly 2425 feet, more or less, to a point; thence turning and running westerly 50 feet to a point on the easterly side of Edgemere Road; thence turning and running northerly and west- erly 2390 feet, more or less, to the Town owned road leading to the Reforestation Lot; thence turning and running northerly 50 feet to the point of beginning.
Parcel No. 2. Beginning at a point on the southerly side of the Boston and Maine Railroad, about 920 feet east of Pillings Pond Road; thence running easterly along said railroad 145 feet, more or less, to a point; thence turning and running southerly 875 feet more or less, to a point on the northeast side of the land described above as Parcel No. 1; thence running north- westerly by a curved line along the above des- cribed Parcel No. 1, 350 feet, more or less, to a point; thence turning and running easterly by a curved line and northerly a distance of 675 feet, more or less, to the railroad and the point of beginning."
ARTICLE 33.
After the reading of a report by the Planning Board, it was voted unanimously to amend the Zoning By-Laws by removing the words "Fun- eral Home" from Section 2 (b) 12 (e) .

ARTICLE 34.
After the reading of a report by the Planning Board, it was voted unanimously to take no ac- tion on this article which reads as follows:
"To see if the Town of Lynnfield will vote to amend the Zoning By-Laws and Zoning Map by changing from Residence to General Business the following described area:
Beginning at the northeasterly corner thereof at the intersection of the Yankee Division High- way (Route 128) and Broadway Street (New- buryport Turnpike, Route 1) thence running;
Northeasterly by Broadway Street (Newbury- port Turnpike, Route 1) nine hundred (900) feet, more or less, to Lynnfield-Peabody line; thence turning and running;
Southeasterly on the Lynnfield-Peabody line two hundred (200) feet, more or less; thence turning and running;
Southwesterly nine hundred (900) feet, more or less, to the Yankee Division Highway (Route 128) ; thence turning and running;
Northwesterly two hundred (200) feet, more or less, on the Yankee Division Highway (Route 128) to the point of beginning.
At this time, on a motion made and seconded, it was voted unanimously that Articles 35, 36, 37, 38 and 39 be taken up jointly. These articles, listed below, were then voted on and were passed unanimously.
ARTICLE 35.
Voted that the Town accept as a public way, Huckleberry Road, as approved by the Planning Board and laid out by the Board of Selectmen as follows:
Huckleberry Road. Running from the westerly side of Summer Street in a general southwesterly direction for a distance of 2000 feet, more or less, and for a width of 40 feet, and covering that portion of the street from Summer Street through Lot 6 and 12 inclusive, as shown on plans entitled "Huckleberry Hill, Lynnfield, Mass., Melch Bros. Corp., Edward S. Averell, Surveyor, Section 2, September 2, 1953," approv- ed by Lynnfield Planning Board, October 29, 1953, and "Huckleberry Road Extension, owned by Augustine and Margaret Moran, George Hayes, Engineer, March 27, 1956," approved by Lynn- field Planning Board, May 14, 1956.
ARTICLE 36.
Voted unanimously that the Town accept as a public way, Michaels Road, as approved by the
Planning Board and laid out by the Board of Se- lectmen bounded and described as follows:
Michaels Road - Running from Huckleberry Road to Melch Road for a distance of 330 feet, more or less, and for a width of 40 feet, as shown on a plan by Edward S. Averell, C.E., dated August 1, 1954 entitled "Huckleberry Hill Final Plan, Section 3," as approved by Lynnfield Plan- ning Board on September 7, 1954.
ARTICLE 37.
Voted unanimously that the Town accept as a public way, Orchard Lane (portion), as approved by the Planning Board and laid out by the Board of Selectmen bounded and described as follows:

Orchard Lane (portion) - Running from the easterly side of Apple Hill Lane, in a general Southeasterly direction, for a distance of 800 feet, more or less, and for a width of 40 feet, as shown on a plan entitled "Apple Hill, section A, Bengt Eriksson and Edwin W. Voted unanimously that the Town accept as a public way, Knoll Road, as endorsed by the Plan- ning Board and laid out by the Board of Select- men, bounded and described as follows:
Knoll Road - Running from the westerly side of Summer Street in a southwesterly direction for a distance of 128 feet, more or less, thence turning and running in a northwesterly direction for a distance of 267 feet, more or less, and for a width of 40 feet to land of Town of Lynnfield, as shown on a plan by A. Kingman Abbott, Survey- or, dated May 1956, and plan of George E. Hayes, C.E., dated May 23, 1959, and endorsed by the Lynnfield Planning Board. Plan recorded in Es- sex South Registry of Deeds, Book 4354, Page 330 shown as Lot D, "Proposed Road," and Book 4603, Page 32, Shown as Part of Lot 1.
ARTICLE 39.
Voted unanimously that the Town accept as a public way, Moran Road (portion), as approved by the Planning Board and laid out by the Board of Selectmen, bounded and described as follows:
Moran Road (portion) -- Running from the southeasterly side of Trickett Road for a distance of 152 feet, more or less, and for a width of 40 feet, as shown on a plan by Warren M. Mirick, C.E., dated April 25, 1955, and approved by the Lynnfield Planning Board on June 6, 1955.

RECORD OF ACTION TAKEN AT SPECIAL TOWN MEETING HELD JUNE 22, 1961 IN THE HIGH SCHOOL AUDITORIUM AND GYMNASIUM
The meeting was called to order at 8 P.M. by Harry W. Higgins, Town Clerk, in the absence of the Town Moderator.
The call for the meeting was read and also the constable's return.
Since it was necessary to appoint a tem- porary moderator, nominations were taken and Gordon Millar was voted temporary moderator to preside at the meeting. Mr. Millar was sworn in by the Town Clerk and took the podium for action on the warrant.
On motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to dispense with the reading of the Articles until taken up for action.
ARTICLE 1.
Following the reading of a report of the Planning Board, it was voted, 349 in favor and 104 opposed, to amend the Zoning By-Laws and Zoning Map of the Town of Lynnfield as follows: (a) By deleting subsection (3) of Section 1 (c).
(b) By revising Section 1 (b) so as to read as follows:
(b) LOCATION OF DISTRICTS - Said districts herein below referred to are located and bounded as shown on a map entitled "Zoning District Map of the Town of Lynnfield, Mass., December, 1953, amended through March, 1958," together with all duly adopted amendments and revisions from March, 1958 through March, 1960, and filed in the office of the Town Clerk, which map, together with all explanatory matter there- on is hereby incorporated in and made a part of this by-law.
(c) By extending the RA Zone in the Huckleberry Road area as follows: Beginning at the zoning boundary line between RA and RB districts 500 feet westerly of Summer Street, and 150 feet southerly of Huckleberry Road and run- ning parallel to and 150 feet south of Huckle- berry Road to a point 1717 feet from Summer Street, thence turning 90 degrees and running westerly to the zoning boundary line between RA and RB districts.
A motion to reconsider this article was de- feated.
ARTICLE 2.
Voted unanimously to indefinitely postpone action on this article which reads as follows:
To see if the Town will vote to amend the Zoning District Map of the Town of Lynnfield, Massachusetts, dated December, 1953, as amend- ed through March, 1958, together with all duly adopted amendments and revisions through March, 1960, and filed in the office of the Town Clerk, by changing a portion of the Single Resi- dence B District to Single Residence A District. The area to be changed is bounded and described as follows:
Beginning at a point where the easterly side line of Lander Road intersects the precinct line in existence in December, 1953, thence running easterly on said precinct line to a point on the westerly side of Summer Street; thence turning and running southeasterly on the westerly side of Summer Street to a point one hundred and fifty (150) feet from the southerly side line of Huckleberry Road; thence turning and running southwesterly on a line parallel to and one hun- dred fifty (150) feet south of Huckleberry Road, one thousand seven hundred seventeen (1717) feet to a point; thence turning and running north- westerly to a point in the center line of Lander Road, seven hundred twenty (720) feet south of the southerly side of Atherton Circle; thence turning and running westerly to a point three hundred (300) feet west from the westerly side of Lander Road; thence turning and running northerly on a line parallel to and three hundred (300) feet west of the westerly side of Lander Road to the said precinct line in existence in December, 1953; thence turning and running easterly on said precinct line to the point of be- ginning.
The Planning Board report on this article was submitted to the Town Clerk.
ARTICLE 3.
Voted to indefinitely postpone action on this article, noted below, since the Finance Commit- tee believed that the funds requested could be

provided for by a transfer from the Reserve Fund as needed.
"To see if the Town will vote to raise and appropriate or appropriate from available funds, the sum of $3,000.00 for use by the School Site Acquisition Committee with the approval of the Board of Selectnien for the purpose of making appraisals, tests, surveys and studies related to school sites."
ARTICLE 4.
Voted unanimously to transfer from available surplus funds the sum of $2,000.00 for the pur- chase of a Police Ambulet Type Cruiser, said purchase to be made by a committee composed of Board of Selectmen, a member of the Finance Committee and the Head of the Police Depart- ment, and to authorize said committee to turn in old cruiser and proceeds to be applied toward the purchase price of the new cruiser.
ARTICLE 5.
Voted to indefinitely postpone action on this article noted below.
"To see if the Town will vote to authorize and instruct the Board of Selectmen to acquire by eminent domain, purchase, gift or otherwise, land for an exit road from Pillings Pond Road, said land being now or formerly owned by Koza, Mansfield, Hart and Rich, and described as fol- lows:

RECORD OF ACTION TAKEN AT SPECIAL TOWN MEETING HELD NOVEMBER 20, 1961 IN THE HIGH SCHOOL AUDITORIUM
The meeting was called to order at 8:15 P.M. by the Moderator.
Before the meeting got underway, the Mod- erator notified the Town Meeting assembly that a bomb threat had been received by the Police Department and that the meeting would be re- cessed until 9:00 P.M.
After a search of the auditorium and surround- ing areas, the voters were allowed to resume their seats.
A vote to postpone the meeting was defeated 329 to 227, and at this time there was a recheck of the voters by the registrars as ordered by the Moderator. This being accomplished, the Mod- erator opened the meeting with the reading of the call for the meeting and the constable's re- turn.
On motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to dispense with the reading of the Articles until taken up for action.
Unanimous consent was given to the admit- tance of certain unregistered voters who were seated on the stage.
ARTICLE 1.
Voted to authorize the Board of Selectmen to appoint a Senior High School Building Commit- tee of seven citizens; said committee to obtain preliminary plan, sketches and estimates of cost for the construction of a new senior high school building to be located on land to be acquired by the Town; provided, however, that the plans and sketches be submitted to the following boards and committees:
1. Board of Selectmen
2. School Committee
3. Finance Committee
4. Planning Board
and that the approval of the plans and sketches by at least three of these boards or committees be secured before estimates are obtained; and that the Town transfer from Available Surplus Funds the sum of $7,500.00 for the use of the Senior High School Building Committee.
A motion to reconsider action on this article was defeated.
ARTICLE 2.
Voted 356 in favor, 170 opposed to authorize and instruct the Board of Selectmen to acquire by purchase, by eminent domain, or otherwise, for school purposes, certain land in Lynnfield owned suppositively by Dennis L. Laubner, bounded and described as follows:
Beginning at the northeasterly corner of the granted premises on the southerly side of the county road known as Essex Street, as relocated and altered by the County Commissioners in 1956, and at land of Allen G. and Barbara D. Barton;
Thence the line runs southerly by land of said Barton, by three courses approximately 633.94 feet to a drill hole in the wall:
Thence running a little south of east, fol- lowing a wall and land of said Barton, 82.94 feet to a drill hole in the wall;
