Banker, ex-congressman; b. 1574 in town of New Paltz, where his ancestors have lived ever since its settlement by the Huguenots, in 1678; ed. New Paltz Normal School and at coll. in Washington, D. C .: served as see. for father, Hon. Jacob Lefevre, during term of latter as congressman, and was sec. of different committees. Afterwards spent & year in travel in Far West and Mexico; soon after became bookkeeper Huguenot Nat. Bank, of which father was pres. and has continued with that bank ever since, be- ing elected pres. on death of father. Elected to N. Y.
