Actress; b. Chicago; d. Abraham and Josephine Lipman; ed. in public and private schools in Chicago; m. Louis Mann, actor. First acquired taste for the stage by success in amateur theatricals in Chicago; made first professional appearance with Mime. Modjeska in Odette, and continued in that company, playing also in Camille, Frou-Frou and As You Like It for one season; then joined a German stock company in Chicago, and after- ward starred one season in German come- dies; reappeared on English stage as the "Langhing Girl" in Incos; later with Palmer Stock Company, in Jim the Penman and other comedies; then in leading
role in The Strange Adventures of Miss Brown, with husband, Louis Mann; afterward in The Girl from Paris, The Telephone Girl, and The Girl from the Barracks; starred three seasons with husband in All on Account of Eliza: then in The Red Kloof and Master and Pupil; temporarily retired from stage be- cause of a fall on shipboard traveling t, Europe, by which her arm was paralyzed; during retirement wrote play of Pepi, and comedy of Julie Bonbon, in which she has, since 1903, starred with her husband; wrote The Italian Girl, in collaboration with Ed- ward Freiburger.
