1699. Jan. 30. A deel of this date from the sons of Thomas S'enton, of Stonington (probably brother of Robert1, of Newport), is valuable as group- ing part of the children of said Thomist, who are sometimes conf mizded with chil iren of Robert.' The deed was made by Thomas Stuiton, sr .. Joseph Stiuton, Sr., Robert Stauton, Sr., and Samuel Stauton, Sr., " who] are four brothers, " the sai i hmeph living at Q tonocoating, all the rest in Stonington : they selling to Captain William Champliu, Sr., for £15, land between Quouocontaug aud Pawcatuck Rivers.

Earlier than this (viz : 16:2, Oct. 16). Anne Stanton, of Stonington, widow of Thomas, solt 200 acres of lan-i tor $34, to George Denison, said Land having been given by will of Thomw Stanton to his son Danici, who had empowered his brother to sell it (Daniel was in Bartadoes, in 10-2.) The Joseph Stanton mentioned in the first deed as of Quenoconlang, was doubtless the same J. neph who was constable in Westerly, 1688, and whose ana Joseph, Jr., was deputy from Westerly in 170%, &c., and who later was deputy from Charlestown (after that was set off from Westerly ;. This mon Joseph died at Charlestown, in 1753 (inventory, £10,009, 5s., 8d ), and was a Colonel at time ut bis decease.
