The following children of John Loman signed an instrument concerning the estate of their sister Tabitha Inman, deceased, to the end, " that peace and tranquility may be preserved; " i Samuel Bartlett, of Attleboro, John Inman, Valentine Innan, Deborah Inman, Daniel Mathewsou, John Ballon and Samuel Comstock, Jr. It was agreed that Deborah should have a double share, and the rest equally.


An agreement was also made concerning their sister Joanna Inman's estate, that all should share equally.

His widow, of Newport, petitionel the Assembly for confir- mation of a share of lands setiled by her deceased husband without court order, at East Greenwich, and she was ordered to be possessed of aforesaid share upon same terms as rest of East Greenwich inhabitants, she paying 401, to General Treasurer within six months.


1683. Oct. 12. His widow, now of East Greenwich. deedled to eldest son John, a 10 acre lot, house, &c., and also farm in first division containing 90 acres, reserving privilege of egress and regress of lower room to live and lodge in.


1685. Feb. 24. Sarah Knight, with other widows and matrons, served as a jury in case of a young woman supposed to be with child.


No relationship has been ascertained as existing between Richard Knight and Toby Knight (Clerk of Military Company at Newport 1642-43).

1688. Nov. 8. He sold Gilcon Frecborn, of Portsmouth, a house and 100 acres in East Greenwich for £40, being the same property he had received from his mother by deed five years before.


1692. Jun. 21. Norwich. He and David Knight made friend Henry Hall their agent for Chippscheog Jands.


1693. In this year he, of Canterbury near Norwich, Henry Hall of Westerly ard David! Knight, of Woodstock, employed Joseph Davol to lay out and survey mums called Hall's and Knight's Purchase. This was deposed to later (1711, Jul. 31), Ly Joseph Davel, who says further that John Knight approved his work and that two highways were laid out for the convenience of the purchasers.


1711, Mar. 27. Testimony of James Fitch, of Canterbury, Ct., was given, that in the year 1694. John Knight, late of Norwich, deceased, with David Knight, his brother, came to my house in Norwich and declared an agreement, whereby Joun sold his whole right to brother David, and a tract of land purchased by his deceased father and Henry Hall, of the Indians.

1712. Feb. 27. Hc petitioned the Assembly through his attorney Samuel Greene, requesting an appeal from the decision of Court of Trials, in a case between said Knight and Job Babcock concerning lands in Narragansett. The appeal to Great Britain was allowed.


1718, Jul. 30. He bought of Josiab Westcott, 12 acres for £14.

Cranston. He and wife Eleanor, sold John King, 10 acres for £650.


1764, Jan. 30. He sold 10 acres in Josiah Potter. for $700, and by indenture of same date received a lease for life of same to himself and wife Eleanor, for sum of one farthing per year rental.


1771, Jan. 5. He sold Nathaniel Potter farm whereon I live of 20 acres, and by indenture of same date, in consideration of reasonable sum for which he had sold bis homestead, he had an agreement from Potter to pay said Koight and Eleanor his wife, for their natural lives, half the rents of another piece of land adjoining the farm, and if this proved insufficient for support, then additions for a comfortable living.


1771, Jan. 7.' He sold Nathaniel Potter for £7. 108., a cow. 2 swine, 2 beds, 3 tables, desk, brass kettle, 2 chests, chest of drawers, 3 iron kettles, Large trunk, 2 bedsteils, narrow axe, beetle. 2 iron wedges, 6 case knives and forks, 6 pewter plates, fire tongs, fire shovel, 2 stacks of hay and all goods and chattels, except wearing appirel, ware, saddle and bridle.

Ralph. He was a house carpenter.


1717, Feb. 15. He (called Richard Knight, son of John, deceased), bought of John Blackmar, son and heir of James Blackmar, certain land.


1719, Oct He (" son of Ann Knight ") was complained of to Assembly with others for abusing Captain Thomas Harris on training :huy in execu- tion of his office. Authority was given to the Deputy Governor and Colonel and Major of Regiment on Main land to examine into affairs, &c. 1724, Mar. 11. He and wife Deliverance sold Moses Bowditch 15 acres for £10.


1744, Jul. 6. He deeded his eldest son John, 30 acres for £230. (This son was called Jobn, Jr., to distinguish him from his uncle Jobn.) He held the title of Captain some years.


1754. Administration to son Jobn Knight, Jr., the estate being resigned to him by his brother Richard Knight, 3d. who had been guardian of their father, the deceased Captain Richard Knight, he having been delirious sometime before his departure. The amount due trom the guardian to administrator was $414, 108.
