DUMMER
60. RICHARD2 DUMMER, son of Richard1 of Newbury, was born 13 Jan., 1650 (Coffin) ; married 12 Nov., 1673 (Coffin), Elizabeth, daugh- ter of Capt. John Appleton of Ipswich. His father, Richard,1 had a farm granted him by the town of Newbury, before 1639, which Roger's company bought, and it then became a part of Rowley. He was not otherwise connected with Rowley. See Shatswell (172). The Rowley "Book of Grants," page 51, under date of 1661, mentions a parcel of land "in the Marsh field at the farme house wher Domer dwelt" and page 54, "in the Marsh field wher Mr Dumers farme house stood."
Richard Dummer (60) lived in Newbury on what is known as the Fatherland Farm. "Capt. Richard Dumer Dyed July 4 1689 in his 40th year" (G. S. Newbury).

His will, dated 16 May, 1761, mentions wife, Mary, to have life use of all the estate and to be executrix; grandson John Duty to have all real estate in Rowley after wife's decease; "my four granddaughters," Mehitable Duty, Apphia Duty, Jane Duty and Mehitable Urrin (Essex Probate, 338 : 263).
By deed, dated 24 Dec., 1773, Mary Duty of Rowley, widow, and executrix of will of Samuel Duty, late of Rowley, deceased, and John Duty of Newbury, millwright, grandson and heir to the estate, sell Amos Stickney, dwelling-house and seven acres of land in Rowley on northeast of Long Hill (Essex Deeds, 133: 181).

63. THOMAS1 ELITHORP had an acre and half house lot on Brad- ford Street, 1643. This lot soon became the property of Richard Clark (41). He lived on the "John Cross farm" then in Ipswich, from about 1650 to the time of his death. We find no record of his first wife. He married (2) Abigail, widow of Thomas Sumner (192-1).
14 May, 1654, Widow Abigail Elithorp, Hugh Smith, and John Pickard petitioned the General Court for probate of the will of Thomas Elithorp; mention is made of eldest son and three youngest children. 1 Nov., 1654, the case is referred to the Ipswich Court. 6 Apr., 1668, "Abigaill Jones sometimes wife vnto Thomas Elithorp of Rowley deceased and Nathanill Elithorp sonn of sayd Thomas Elithorp, and Henry Ryley and Mary his wife, and Joseph Pickworth and Abigaill his wife Daughters vnto the aforesd Thomas Elithorp" give power of attorney to "our loveing Brother John Elithorp" (Essex Deeds, 3 Ips .: 220).
His widow, Abigail, married (3) in Boston, 25 June, 1657, Thomas Jones of Hull, and died before 1691.

She was dismissed, 19 Oct., 1707, from Rowley Church to "the old (or Middle) church" in Boston. They moved to Boston about 1704, and were living there, 14 Nov., 1711 (Essex Deeds, 27: 264).
He died in Rowley, 28 Sept., 1718. In the will of Jeremiah Dum- mer, dated 17 Mar., 1715, he gives £10 to "Hannah Elithorp only daughter of my Deceased Brother Richard Dummer."

64. JEREMIAH1 ELLSWORTH was in Rowley before 1649 (Rowley R.) ; married 2 Dec., 1657, Mary, widow of Hugh Smith (181). She was buried 24 May, 1687. He married (2) 13 May, 1689, Sarah, daughter of Dea. Maximilian Jewett (100); died 6 May, 1704. She died 16 Aug., 1746, "aged 85 or 6" (Ch. R.).
