NORTHEND
132. EZEKIEL1 NORTHEND, son of Mr. John Northend of Rippling- ham, Rowley, England, was born in Yorkshire, England, about 1622; probably came with the Rev. Ezekiel Rogers, 1639; then a minor. He married 1 Dec., 1648, Edna, widow of Richard Bailey (11); died 7 Sept., 1698. His will, dated 8 Feb., 1698, mentions wife, Edna; Eze- kiel, "only son"; daughters Edna "Sticknee," Elizabeth Gage, and Sarah Hale. (Essex Probate, 306: 90). His widow, Edna, died 3 Feb., 1705-6.
The letter from his brother, Anthony Northend of Beverly, England, is given below, showing some of his relations in England .* His sister, Widow Margaret Cross (50}), married John Palmer (135), and his sister Alice married Richard Holmes (90).
The will of Mr. John Northend of Ripplingham, Rowley, England, is dated 8 Oct., 1625, and mentions wife, Elizabeth, to be executrix (she died before the will was proved) ; children John, Anthony, Alice, Elizabeth, Margaret, Ezekiel, and Jane or Joana (married William

JEREMIAH NORTHEND was baptized in Rowley, England, 26 Sept., 1624, as son of Robert Northend of "Weeton," Rowley Parish, England; cousin of Ezekiel Northend (132) ; mentioned in will of William Bellingham (14) as "servant," to serve out his time with Rev. Ezekiel Rogers (160). He returned to Rowley, England, after being here a few years. He was buried in Rowley, England, 14 Apr., 1702 (Certificate of Rev. Henry C. Hildyard, Rector of Rowley, England). PARRAT-JEWETT HOUSE, CROSS STREET
Built, according to tradition, before 1655 by Dea. Francis Parrat (136), on lot registered to him in 1643. Owned and occupied by Lieut. Joshua Jewett (101-38), and his descendants from 1715 to 1865. Taken down in 1877.

134. THOMAS1 PALMER had an acre and half house lot on Brad- ford Street, 1643. He married - 6 mo. 1643, Ann His will, dated 2 Aug., 1669, proved 28 Sept., 1669, mentions wife, Ann; son Samuel to have the homestead; son Timothy to have the Boxford land ; son Thomas to have the Bradford land. The inventory of his estate was taken 5 Sept., 1669 (Essex Probate). Thomas Palmer is men- tioned as legatee in the will of Richard Bailey (11), 1647, which may have some bearing as to the maiden name of his wife, Ann. Widow Ann was buried 22 Feb., 1686.

134-20. TIMOTHY3 PALMER (Thomas 134-3; Thomas 134), born 10 Jan., 1694-5; married 28 Mar., 1722, Patience, daughter of Stephen Pearson (140-12). She died 20 Jan., 1729-30 (G. S.) (21 Jan., Ch. R.). He married (2) 13 Nov., 1730, Jane, widow of John Syle (194- 1). He died 30 Dec., 1773 (29 Dec. Ch. R.). See Essex Deeds, 111 : 250 and 127: 210 and 131: 228 to show that his son John married Mary Cressey and not Elizabeth Bennett.

He built the first bridge over the Merrimac River at Newburyport and the first bridge over the Potomac at Washington, D. C. He m. in Newburyport, 16 Dec., 1779, Anna Wyatt of Newburyport. She d. 21 July, 1786, in her 32nd year. He m. (2) in Newburyport, 9 Mar., 1795, Hannah Downer of Newburyport. He d. 19 Dec., 1821, without issue. His will, dated 5 June, 1821, mentions himself as of Newburyport, gentleman ; wife, Hannah ; brother Andrews Palmer and his daughter Sally; nephew Stephen Tilton of Newburport, merchant (Essex Probate, 399: 98). He was about 70 years old, 1693 (Essex Deeds, 5 Ips .: 600). He died, "aged," 17 June, 1695. His will, dated 23 Aug., 1693, mentions daughter Elizabeth, wife of Anthony Bennet; son-in-law Jonathan Harriman, who married daughter Sarah; grandchild Nicholas Wallingford, a minor; son Fran- cis to have the homestead and maintain his mother (unnamed) ; brother Ezekiel Northend (Essex Probate, 305: 56). His widow, Margaret, died 20 Feb,. 1705-6.
