204. JOHN1 TRUMBLE was first of Roxbury, then of Rowley, 1639 (Savage) ; freeman 13: 3 mo. 1640; had an acre and half house lot, 1643; succeeded Dea. Francis Parrat (136) as town clerk, 1655, and so continued until his death. He brought with him his wife, Ellen, who died, 1648-9. He married (2) -6 mo. 1650, Ann, widow of Michael Hopkinson (91). He was buried 18: 5 mo. 1657. His family received pay after his decease for his "keepeing of a scoolle." Adminis- tration granted, 29: 7 mo. 1657, to his widow, Ann (Ipswich Ct. R.). JOHN2 TRUMBLE (John 204), born, probably in Rox- bury, about 1639; married 14 May, 1662, Deborah, daughter of William Jackson (97) ; was ordained deacon of Rowley Church, 24 Oct., 1686, and was lieutenant of the military company, 1689. He died - Mar., 1690-1. His widow, Deborah, was appointed administratrix, 22 Apr., 1691. She died 20 Nov., 1709.

He sold his homestead to Daniel Wicom (217-1), 4 June, 1675 (Essex Deeds, 5 Ips. : 154), and soon moved with his family to Suffield, Conn. He was dismissed from Rowley Church, 24 May, 1680, to the "Church of Christ at Springfield" and died before 1687. It was his widow, Hannah, who married John Strong, not his daughter, as shown by the following extract from Rowley Church Record : "Hannah Strong some- time the wife of Joseph Trumbl, & daughter to Br Smith now wife of Goodm: Strong dismissed to the Church of Xst at Winsor Novemb 1 1687."

He died in Ipswich, 29 Sept., 1751 (G. S. Ipswich).

205. SIMON2 WAINWRIGHT of Haverhill was a son of Francis1 of Ipswich. In 1682, the town of Rowley employed him to teach the town

school. He was to have £5 in money, beside the usual fee from each pupil. He probably taught but one season.
While in Rowley, he had with him his wife, Sarah (Gilbert), whom he married in Haverhill, 6 Oct., 1681. She died in Haverhill, 18 Apr., 1688. He continued his residence in Haverhill where his second and third marriages appear of record, as also the births of his five children and his own death, "Killed by Indians Aug. 29, 1708."
His third wife was Mary (Williams), widow of Thomas Silver of Haverhill (Savage), whom he married in Haverhill, 7 Aug., 1700. She married (3) John Boynton (22-2).

206. RICHARD WALKER "of Newbury" (Rowley Ch. R.), was prob- ably the Richard Walker who was a tenant of Jeremiah Dummer, owner of the Dummer farm, now in Byfield Parish, Newbury.

WALLINGFORD (WALLINGTON)
207. NICHOLAS1 WALLINGFORD, "a poor boy," came in the "Confi- dence" from Southampton, 1638, to Newbury and was there called "Wallington," which name was continued on the early records of Row- ley. The later generations of this family have styled themselves "Wall- ingford." He married in Newbury, 30 Aug., 1654, Sarah, daughter of Henry and Bridget Travers of Newbury; freeman 11 Oct., 1670. By deed, acknowledged 29 Jan., 1677, he gave one acre of meadow in the Crane Meadow, bounded on Crane Brook, "to have an able & faith- ful ministry settled amongst the inhabitants of the sd Towne of Brad- ford" (Essex Deeds, 4 Ips .: 130). Coffin says he was taken captive at sea and never returned. The inventory of his estate was taken 22 Sept., 1681; his widow to use the estate to bring up the young child and the lame child (Essex Deeds, 4 Ips. : 443).
Widow Bridget Travers married 30 Mar., 1659, Richard Window of Gloucester (Savage). She died in Bradford before 9: 8 mo. 1673, that being the date of the inventory of her estate. The deposition of Samuel Worcester and Elizabeth, his wife, states that two or three days before the Widow Window died they heard her express her will regarding her son-in-law, Nicholas Wallington, and his son, John, and daughter, Sara Wallington, and her son, James Travis. Administration on the estate of Bridget Window was granted, 26: 9 mo. 1673, to Nicholas Walling- ton and James Travis (Essex Probate, 301: 43). Widow Sarah Wall-

208. JOHN1 WATSON was admitted to Rowley Church, 22 Mar., 1666. He married Eunice, daughter of James Barker (13). His homestead was in that portion of Rowley then called Merrimack Vil- lage and later Bradford, where a farm of fifty acres was granted and laid out to him, 10: 12 mo. 1670 (Rowley R., 1: 209).
