·
REPORT OF CEMETERY COMMISSIONERS
To the Honorable Board of Selectmen:
Gentlemen:
The Cemetery Commission respectfully submits the following report for the year ending December 31, 1961.
The Commission organized as follows: Clifford W. Bosselman, Chairman; Joseph A. Roberts, Clerk; and Walter F. Reynolds, Jr., Member.
During our meetings, early in the season, the Commission realized that it would be limited in our expenditures on new development and that the bulk of the budget would cover the cost of general mainte- nance. This proved to be true and very little new work was accom- plished.
The 1961 Budget was as follows:

During the past year we have expended on the drives about $900.00. This includes $400.00 labor, $300.00 gravel and $200.00 for trucks and grader.
The Commission feels that this occurring expense could be greatly reduced by surfacing the drives and are submitting an Article for the sum of $500.00 to initiate this program.
We are also submitting a special Article for the sum of $300.00. This sum to be used for the trucking of approximately 1,500 yards of Peat from the Route 27 reconstruction project.
We wish to thank the various departments for their cooperation and especially to the Highway Department who have cooperated at our convenience and aided us immensely in our work.
Respectfully submitted,

REPORT OF INDUSTRIAL AND DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION
There is very little change in the industrial situation since last year's report.
Efforts are being made to get industry to locate here but as yet we have not been very successful.
We have a large number of acres of land in the industrial zoned area which should be very attractive for manufacturing purposes and it presents a good picture for the future.

REPORT OF THE TREE AND MOTH DEPARTMENTS
To the Honorable Board of Selectmen:
Submitted herewith is the report of the Tree and Moth Depart- ments for the year 1961.
We satisfactorily controlled the Elm Leaf Beetle and other leaf feeding insects on our roadside trees this past year. I recommend that $1,000.00 be appropriated for Moth work for 1962.
17
Dutch Elm Disease took fewer of our Elms this past year than it has for several years. Continuation of our spray and sanitation pro- gram will tend to keep this dread disease at a low rate of increase. I recommend that $4,000.00 be appropriated for the further control of this disease for 1962.
Poison Ivy is becoming noticably less and with continuous spraying we will be able to keep it under control. I recommend the sum of $200.00 be appropriated for Poison Ivy Control for 1962.
Trees along several miles of roadsides were pruned this past year and some of our older, dangerous trees were removed. When neces- sary the stumps also were removed. I recommend that $3,500.00 be appropriated for 1962.
Our tree planting program kept rolling along with the planting of 65 trees of mixed species. I recommend that the sum of $500.00 be appropriated for this work in 1962.
Respectfully submitted,
ELLIS N. ALLEN,
Tree Warden and Moth Supt.
