By virtue of this warrant, I have notified and warned the inhabi- tants of the Town of Medfield qualified to vote in elections, to meet at the time and for the purpose named, by posting attested copies of said warrant in not less than five public places in the town at least seven days before the time of holding the meeting.

STATE ELECTION


November 8, 1960


Pursuant to the foregoing warrant the meeting was held in the Memorial School on Tuesday, the eighth day of November, 1960 at 6:00 A.M. The following persons were appointed election officers, sworn in by the Town Clerk and assigned to their duties as follows: Thomas Clancy, Warden; John Gattoni, Deputy Warden; Charles W. Keirstead, Clerk; Marie Burke, Deputy Clerk; Mary Mair Etienne, Inspector; Alice Ripley, Deputy Inspector; Anne Young, Inspector; Anne Donlan, Deputy Inspector. Tellers were: Mary Nyren, Letitia McEleney Florence Roberts, Viola Burr, Mary Hazel, Shirley Considine, Lor- raine Ricci, Joan Griffin, Charlotte Randolph, Elizabeth Ekstrom, Hildegarde Munson, Theresa Hagman, Marie Burke, Mary Mair Etienne, Alice Ripley, Mildred Rossi, Thomas Clancy, Beatrice Bangs, Gladys Clougherty, and Alice Hogan. Thomas Clancy and John Gattoni were in charge of the ballot box.

The ballot box had been previously examined and found to be in good working order and cards of instructions and sample ballots posted as required by law. The warrant was read and after the ballots were delivered to the ballot clerks the polls were declared open at 6:00 A.M.


After the polls were closed at 8:00 P.M. the tellers began counting the ballots in compliance with the provisions of the new Chapter 434 of the Acts of 1960. The counting was completed about 6:00 A.M. and the complete tabulation and announcement of the results about 7:00 A.M. on Wednesday, November 9, 1960.


The total vote cast was 2392 of which 2301 were cast in person and 72 Civilian and 19 Servicemen's Absentee Ballots received. This was the largest vote ever cast in Medfield and represented about 94% of the registered voters. (2545)

In the name of the Commonwealth you are directed to notify and warn the inhabitants of the Town of Medfield, qualified to vote in elections and in town affairs, to meet at the High School Auditorium in said Medfield on Monday the 5th day of December A.D. 1960 at 7:30 P.M. then and there to act on the following articles:


Article 1. To see if the Town will vote to transfer a sum of money from the Road Machinery Fund to the Highway Operating Account to defray the expense of the operation and maintenance of Highway Machinery.

Article 2. To see if the Town will vote to transfer from Available Funds in the Town Treasury to the Snow and Sanding Account a sum of money to defray the expenses for the remainder of the year.


Article 3. To see if the Town will vote to transfer from Available Funds in the Town Treasury to the Fire Department Account a sum of money to defray the expenses for the remainder of the year.


Article 4. To see if the Town will vote to transfer from Available Funds in the Town Treasury the sum of $1,460.00 to pay an outstanding Boiler Insurance premium.


Article 5. To see if the Town will vote to transfer from Available Funds in the Town Treasury a sum of money for the Fire Alarm System in the New Fire Station. (Chief Fire Department)


Article 6. To see if the Town will vote to accept as a public way that portion of Hillcrest Road between Stations 14 plus 59.57 to 17 plus 50 as shown on a plan entitled "Layout of Hillcrest Road by McCarthy Engineering Service, Inc. dated August 12, 1960".


Article 7. To see if the Town will vote to accept as a public way that portion of Ledgetree Road between Stations 9 plus 81.93 to 17 plus 50 as shown on a plan entitled "Plan of Ledgetree Road in Medfield, Mass. by McCarthy Engineering Service, Inc. dated July 20, 1960".


Article 8. To see if the Town will vote to purchase, take by emi- nent domain and/or accept as a gift from sundry owners, for water purposes, 40,000 square feet of land in fee on Mt. Nebo and right of way easements connecting therewith all as shown on a plan entitled "Plan of Proposed Standpipe Lot and Right of Way to be acquired by the Town of Medfield, Mass., Cheney Engineering Co., October 17, 1958" or do or act anything in relation thereto. Article 9. To see if the Town will vote to authorize the Selectmen to sell Lots No. 312 and No. 315 as shown on the Walpole Assessors' Plan, Town of Walpole, or do or act anything in relation thereto.


Article 10. To see if the Town will vote to accept the relocation of Green Street, as shown on a plan entitled "Plan of Proposed Relocation of a portion of Green Street, Medfield, Mass., Scale 1" = 40'; Cheney Engineering Co., Needham, Mass. September 28, 1960"


Article 11. To see if the Town will vote to abandon as a public way that portion of the town layout of Dale Street as shown on a plan entitled "Plan of Dale Street between Bridge Street and Frairy Street, Medfield, Mass., January 23, 1959".


Article 12. To see if the Town will vote to transfer from the Park and Planning Board to the Recreation Commission a piece of land totalling 16.48 acres (Lot No. 120, consisting of 10.5 acres, Lot No. 126,

consisting of 4.5 acres and Lot No. 130 consisting of 1.48 acres, Map of Town of Medfield) located on the southeasterly side of Green Street and on the northeasterly side of Brook Street, said land to be used for recreational purposes, including the excavation of a swimming pond, and to do or act anything in relation thereto. Pursuant to the foregoing warrant the meeting was called to order by the Moderator and the following action was taken on the articles therein:


Article 1. Voted to transfer the sum of $1,538.50 from the Road Machinery Fund to the Highway Operating Account to defray the expense of the operation and maintenance of Highway Machinery.


Article 2. Voted to transfer the sum of $4,000.00 from Available Funds in the Town Treasury to the Snow and Sanding Account to defray the expenses for the remainder of the year.


Article 3. Voted to transfer the sum of $1,000.00 from Available Funds in the Town Treasury to the Fire Department Account to defray the expenses for the remainder of the year.
