HISTORY OF HAMPTON.
BLAKE.
JASPER BLAKE, styled mariner, the common ancestor of the Blake fan ilies of Hampton and vicinity, is supposed to have settled here about 1650. His wife, Deborah, is said to have been a sister of Rev. Timothy and Mr. Philemon Dalton. Certain it is, she was their rel- ative. About 1660, Mr. Blake bought the house-lot of Thomas Ward [See Ward (1)]. He also owned other tracts of land, among them, one of eight acres, a few rods north of Oliver Lane's present residence, where he probably resided during much of his life in Hampton ; and a farm of one hundred acres, received from Rev. Timothy Dalton, by a deed of gift. He died Jan. 5, 1674, and his widow died Dec. 20, 1678.
