HISTORY OF HAMPTON.
"The Norris family is an ancient one in England, and some of its members located early in Ireland. Nicholas Norris, according to tra- dition, came from Ireland when a boy. He was born probably about 1640. He was a soldier in garrison, in 1691, after he removed to Exeter. The last mention of him on public records is of deeding away land in 1721, about which time he probably died. Among his descendants was Hon. Moses Norris, of Pittsfield, U. S. senator from N. H. He had children born in Exeter, viz. : Moses, 1670. Jona- than, 1673. Abigail, 1675. Sarah, 1678. James, 1680. Elizabeth, 1683."
