SOLOMON PAGE, A.M., schoolmaster, clergyman, son of Sam- uel (4), graduated from Harvard College, 1729 ; married, first, April 13, 1732, Dorothy, daughter of Jonathan Dunster, of Charlestown, Mass., who died in Hampton, Oct. 13, 1741, aged thirty-nine years. Ile married again. He taught school in Hampton (p. 477), and preached here six months, during the illness of Mr. Gookin (p. 384). No births of his children are entered on the Town Records, and the baptism of Lemuel only, on the Church Records. Mr. Page was dis- missed to the Second church in Salisbury, Mass., Dec. 4, 1757; after which date, we lose sight of him and his family. Tradition says he was at some time in the "Kennebec country." PALMER.
I. WILLIAM PALMER, a grantee and one of the first settlers of Hampton in 1638, was of Watertown, Mass., in 1636-7; Newbury, about 1637. About 1650 William Palmer, of Hampton, agreed to release to his son-in-law, John Sherman, of Watertown, land in 58

Great Ormsby, Co.'Norfolk, England. Probably he came from that place. He was married and had children before he came to this country. He married, second, Grace, widow of Thomas Rogers, who died in Watertown about the date of the beginning of the plantation at Winnacunnet ; and after William Palmer's death, she returned to Watertown, and married, third, Roger Porter. Mr. Palmer's house- lot was between the lots of William Eastow (1) and John Moulton (1) and his house was about the place of the present Leavitt house. Children :
Martha, m. Capt. John Sherman, of Watertown.
Edward, had land granted by the town, in 1641; was then living here (on the Exeter road, near the old Neal house).

II. CHRISTOPHER PALMER, son of William (1), married Nov. 7, 1650, Susanna, daughter of Edward Hilton ; lived in Hampton. She died Jan. 9, 1716, aged eighty-two years. Child :

VIII. SAMUEL PALMER, Esqnire, son of Samuel (4), was an emi- nent teacher of Surveying and Navigation, and a practical surveyor and conveyancer. He lived on the northern part of what is now Joseph A. Philbrick's homestead, near Nathaniel S. Locke's. He married, first, Feb. 7, 1717, Deborah, daughter of Benjamin Lamprey (2) ; second, Mar. 2, 1726, Rebecca, daughter of Dea. Francis Page (2).
