XLIX. CHARLES M. LAMPREY, lawyer, Police Justice, son of Uri (41), married Catherine Osborne, daughter of John Bachelotte, of St. Mary's, Ga. Mr. Bachelotte was a son of Dr. Richard Bache- lotte, a surgeon in the French army, that came to our aid with Lafay- ette, in the Revolution. He returned in Count DeGrasse's fleet, but came back and settled in Georgia after a short stay in North Caro- lina. His wife was a Howell, a sister of Hon. Howell Cobb's mother. Mrs. Lamprey was brought up by her great-aunt, Mrs. Fitzgerald, widow of Admiral Fitzgerald, of the British navy.


Mr. Lamprey built his home on the site of his grandfather Marston's house, struck by lightning in 1860 (p. 331). Children :

I. WILLIAM LANE, tailor, son of William, of Boston, was born in that town, Oct. 1, 1659. His mother was Mary, daughter of Thomas Brewer, of Roxbury, Mass. His parents were married Aug. 21, 1656. William was the fifth child of his father, three having been by a for- mer marriage. He married June 21, 1680, Sarah, daughter of Thomas and Sarah (Brewer) Webster (2). She was probably his cousin, and was born Jan. 22, 1661 ; died Jan. 6, 1745. Their first child was born in Boston, and they soon afterward removed to Hampton and settled near the residence of her father. He died Feb. 14, 1749. Children : John (2), b. Feb. 17, 1685; m.
