Sent to Camp Custer, Mich .; assigned to 16th Com- pany, 4th Battalion, 160th Depot Brigade. Died of influenza October 13, 1918, Camp Custer, Mich. Buried in Westport Cemetery. Survived by widow, Alma Heavern Ford, and one son, Ralph Leroy, Westport, Decatur County, Ind.
FORKERT, EDWARD WILLIAM - PRIVATE Son of Charles and Lottie Forkert: born February 27, 1896, on a farm east of Greensburg, Ind. Farmer. Entered service April 26, 1918, Greensburg. Sent to Camp Taylor, Ky .; assigned to 1st Company, 1st Training Battalion, 159th Depot Brigade. Died May 28, 1918, Camp Taylor, Ky. Buried in the United Lutheran Cemetery, southeast of Greensburg, Ind.

Son of Festes (deceased) and Alice Giddings; born September 4, 1891, Westport, Decatur County, Ind. Employe of Western Union Telegraph Company. Entered service September 22, 1917. Sent to Camp Taylor, Ky .; assigned to Company M, 335th Infantry; then to Supply Company, 120th Infantry. Went overseas in May, 1918. Gassed, recovered; wounded again in the battle of the Argonne Forest, and died November 4, 1918, No. 41, Stationary Hospital, France.
HARROLD, DANA C. CORPORAL Son of Dana C. (deceased) and Eva Crum Harrold; born September 11, 1892, Elwood, Madison County, Ind. Following the death of his father, moved with his mother to Decatur County; settled south of Greensburg. Enlisted in U.S. Regular Army April 25, 1917, Gary, Ind. Assigned to 6th Coast Artil- lery: trained at Ft. Thomas, Ky., and Ft. Delaware. Died of disease May 25, 1917. Buried in Elwood, Ind.

HESS, ROY PRIVATE Orphaned early in life, and placed in Soldier's and Sailor's Home, Knightstown, Ind. On June 27, 1911, he was adopted by Mrs. Phamie Armstrong, Letts, Ind. Farmer. Entered service October 15, 1918, and was sent to Camp Winona, War- saw, Ind. Assigned to Motor Transport. Died in camp, October 27, 1918, and was buried in Monroe City, Knox County, Ind.

Son of Lindsey C. and Mary E. Jackson; born March 23, 1891, Harris City, Decatur County, Ind. Farmer. Enlisted in U.S. Regular Army April 25, 1917. Sent to Jefferson Bar- racks, Mo .; assigned to Company M, 18th Infantry; then to Company D, 2nd Machine Gun Battalion, 1st Division. Went to France with General Pershing in June, 1917. Participated in several engagements; killed in action at Chateau-Thierry, July 20, 1918.
KINKER, JOSEPH HENRY PRIVATE
Son of August and Theresa Kinker; born August 1, 1893, New Point, Decatur County, Ind. Farmer. Entered service May 27, 1918, Greensburg, Ind. Sent to Camp Taylor, Ky .; transferred to Camp Beauregard, La .; assigned to Battery B, 142nd Field Artillery, 39th Division. Overseas in September, 1918; landed at Brest, France, September 12th. Died of pneu- monia September 19, 1918. Buried in Keefautras Cemetery, France.
LANDIS, MICHAEL HERBERT PRIVATE Son of James (deceased) and Adelia Miles Landis; born February 7, 1894, Jennings County, Ind. Moved with parents to Westport, Decatur County, when quite young. Employe of Firestone Rubber Tire Company, Akron, Ohio. Entered serv- ice May 29, 1918, Greensburg, Ind. Sent to Camp Sherman, Ohio. Went overseas; assigned to Company K, 26th Infantry, 1st Division. Participated in St. Mihiel drive, and battle of Argonne Forest. Killed in action October 5, 1918.
LUTHER, FRED LESLIE WIRELESS OPERATOR Son of M. J. and Minnie Luther; born July 16, 1898, Rugby, Bartholomew County, Ind. Two years later moved with family to Decatur County, and settled near Burney. Enlisted in U.S. Navy August 22, 1917, and was sent to Norfolk, Va. Transferred to Harvard University, given rank as second class officer, Radio Squad. Assigned to duty as wireless operator on board ship. Died of pneumonia April 5, 1918, in hospital at Chelsea, Mass. Buried at Clifty, Decatur County, Ind.
MORGAN, WALTER ROY PRIVATE Son of John and Louise Morgan; born August 23, 1895, Osgood, Ripley County, Ind. Living on a farm near Middle- branch, Decatur County, when he entered service August 31, 1918, Greensburg, Ind. Sent to Camp Sherman, Ohio; as- signed to 29th Company, 8th Training Battalion, 158th Depot Brigade. Died of influenza October 14, 1918, in Base Hospital Camp Sherman. Buried in cemetery of German Methodist Church, southeast of Greensburg.

Transferred to Washington Barracks, D. C .; assigned to Engineer Corps, Company D, 2nd Regiment. Overseas in February, 1918. Wounded at Chateau-Thierry, recovered. Assigned to Company A, 502nd Engineers. Died from wounds November 10, 1918. Buried in the American Cemetery, Nevers, France.
