Entered service June 27, 1918, Angola, Ind. Sent to Vocational Training School, Indianapolis, Ind. Transferred to Camp Tay- lor, Ky .; assigned to Headquarters Company, 18th Training Battalion, Field Artillery Replacement Depot. Died of influ- enza October 14, 1918, Camp Taylor. Buried at Flint, near Angola, Ind.


KING, GEORGE HENRY PRIVATE Son of Edward S. and Sarah L. King; born May 21, 1895, Jamestown Township, Steuben County, Ind. Farmer. En- tered service in Gothenburg, Neb. (Date not known.) Sent to Camp Cody, N. M. for training. Assigned to Company L, 134th Infantry. Contracted pneumonia and died December 24, 1917, in Base Hospital, Camp Cody. Buried in Jamestown Cemetery, Steuben County, Ind.

Transferred to Brownsville, Tex .; assigned to Company I, 4th Infantry. Trans- ferred to Camp Green, N. C. Overseas in May, 1918; assigned to Company I, 59th Infantry, 4th Division. Killed in action October 6, 1918, near Verdun, France. Buried in American Military Cemetery, Le Grand Pont, France.


MASTEN, FRANK C. PRIVATE Son of David and Emma Masten; born July 16, 1898, Pleas- ant Lake, Steuben County, Ind. Farmer. Served with Com- pany B, 3rd Infantry, Indiana National Guard on the Mexican Border in 1916. Re-enlisted in June, 1917. Sent to Camp Shelby, Miss .; assigned to 137th Field Artillery. Overseas in October, 1918. Died of pneumonia October 24, 1918, Nell Lane Hospital, Manchester, England. Body returned to U.S., and buried in Pleasant Lake Cemetery, Steuben County, Ind.


NEUTZ, PAUL GEORGE PRIVATE, S.A.T.C.


Son of George and Ida Neutz; born March 16, 1899, near Nevada Mills, Steuben County, Ind. Salesman. Enlisted in Student Army Training Corps, Tri-State College, Angola, Ind., in September, 1918. Stricken with influenza, he died October 21, 1918, Angola, Ind. Buried in Jamestown Cemetery, Steuben County, Ind.


PARRISH, GEORGE L. D. PRIVATE Son of George C. and Katherine Nolan Parrish; born April 26, 1894, Angola, Ind. Enlisted in U.S. Regular Army, July 11, 1917, Fort Wayne, Ind. Sent to Camp Taylor, Ky .; then to Camp Greene, S. C. Assigned to Medical Corps. Overseas in May, 1918; assigned to 28th Ambulance Company, 4th Divi- sion. While giving first aid to his bunk mate on the field in the Argonne Forest, he was killed by a bomb dropped from a Ger- man airplane, October 15, 1918.


PORTER, LEO ROSS PRIVATE Son of John and Josephine Porter; born February 26, 1889, Metz, Steuben County, Ind. Newspaper cartoonist, Lansing, (Mich.) State Journal. Enlisted in U.S. Regular Army in April, 1917, Lansing, Mich. Sent to Camp McArthur, Tex .; assigned to Reconnaisance Section, map-drawing. Overseas in February, 1918; assigned to 119th Field Artillery. Wounded in action August 12, 1918, and died two days later. (Place unknown.)

RANSOM, GLENN DEWEY, M.D. - CAPTAIN, M.C. Son of Amasa D. and Ella A. Ransom; born October 13, 1884, Quincy, Mich. Graduated from University of Michigan Medical School, 1913. Moved to Hamilton, Ind. same year, and opened medical practice. Enlisted August 10, 1917; over- seas two weeks later. Attached to 5th Cameron Highlanders Regiment. Killed in action September 26, 1918, Poperinghe, West Flanders. Awarded British Military Cross for bravery. Buried, Haringhe, Belgium. Survived by widow, Lou H. Ransom, and two children, Dale Nelson, and Elwyn Glenn Ransom, Ann Arbor, Mich.


REX, ERNEST PAUL PRIVATE


Son of William and Caroline Rex; born April 13, 1896, Kinderhook, Mich. Living on a farm in Steuben County, Ind. when he was called into service July 22, 1918, Coldwater, Mich. Sent to Camp Custer, Mich .; assigned to 26th Company, 7th Training Battalion, 160th Depot Brigade. Transferred to Battery E, 41st Field Artillery. Died of pneumonia October 9, 1918, Camp Custer, Mich. (Burial place unknown.)


SHIPE, RAYMOND CLARENCE PRIVATE Son of Isaiah and Anna Locke Shipe (both deceased); born July 13, 1895, Steuben County, Ind. Farmer. Enlisted in U.S. Regular Army August 16, 1917, Jefferson Barracks, Mo. Sent to Ft. Sill, Okla .; assigned to 327th Automatic Replace- ment Draft. Died of measles-pneumonia December 16, 1917, Camp Hospital, Ft. Sill, Okla. Buried in Jamestown Cemetery, near Fremont, Steuben County, Ind.
