The Sacrifice Supreme

So young in years yet brave in might Of loyal heart and mind well blent. Abiding faith had he in right, In joyous song and merriment. In him were mixed without alloy Ingredients of pure filial love Reflected in parental joy And reverence for Him above.

With gleaming face and buoyant cheer, To country loyal through and through,

Unfaltering step, no cringing fear, He marched straight in death's rendezvous.

Glorious the race which he has run! Peace, eternal life, well won!
