Sent to Camp Sherman, Ohio; assigned to 6th Company, 2nd Training Battalion, 158th Depot Brigade. Transferred to Camp Mills, N. Y., and went overseas in September, 1918. Assigned to Company H, 362nd Infantry. Killed in action October 31, 1918, Bevere, Belgium.
BARTON, ALVA R. SERGEANT Son of George T. and Lucinda Barton; born August 8, 1888, Summitville, Madison County, Ind. Living in West Terre Haute, Ind., when he enlisted in U.S. Regular Army July 2, 1914. Sent to Fort Houston, Tex .; assigned to Company F, 26th Infantry. Went overseas in June, 1917; attached to the First Division. Fought in battles of Soissons; St. Mihiel; and Argonne. Died October 1, 1918 from wounds received in action. Buried in "Flanders Fields", Belgium.

Leavenworth, Kan .; assigned to Company F, Signal Corps. Transferred to Seattle, Wash., and then to Valdez, Alaska; where he died from accidental causes February 8, 1918. Buried, Neoga, Ill.

Buried in Highland Lawn Cemetery, Terre Haute, Ind.

Died December 12, 1918, Camp Devens, as result of accident received in line of duty. Buried in Woodlawn Cemetery, Terre Haute, Ind.

Invalided to U.S., and died October 18, 1919, in Government Hospital, Ft. Bayard, N. M. Buried in Highland Lawn Cemetery, Terre Haute, Ind.
