Son of Jacob F. and Emma J. Miller; born March 1, 1899, Laporte, Ind. Car builder. Enlisted in U.S. Regular Army November 22, 1916, Columbus Barracks, Ohio. Sent to El Paso, Tex .; assigned to Company H, 17th Infantry. Trans- ferred to Ft. Oglethorpe, Ga .; went overseas in June, 1918; attached to the First Division. Died June 9, 1918, from wounds received in battle. Buried in French Military Cemetery, Chateau-Thierry, Aisne, France. The American Legion Post, Michigan City, Ind., is named in his honor.

Died of pneumonia January 8, 1919, Base Hospital No. 24, France. Buried in City Cemetery, Langres, Haute Marne, France.
