MARQUIS, OLIVER PRIVATE Son of Ezekiel and Lucinda Marquis; born June 24, 1895, St. Wendells, Posey County, Ind. Garage employe. Enlisted in Company K, 2nd Infantry, Indiana National Guard, June 28, 1917, Mt. Vernon, Ind. Trained at Camp Shelby, Miss. Over- seas June 12, 1918; assigned to Company K, 166th Infantry, 42nd (Rainbow) Division. Killed in action November 7, 1918, near Cheney. Buried in American Cemetery No. 1203, Ardennes, France. Awarded Distinguished Service Cross. American Legion Post Poseyville, Ind., named in his honor.


MARTIN, LEMUEL HERBERT PRIVATE Son of Thomas and Nora Martin; born December 3, 1898, Mt. Vernon, Ind. Farmer. Enlisted in U.S. Regular Army July 25, 1917, Mt. Vernon, Ind. Sent to Camp Taylor, Ky .; transferred to Camp Shelby, Miss. Went overseas in June, 1918; assigned to Company G, 4th Infantry. Died of wounds September 24, 1918. Buried in the American Cemetery No. 608, Seringes-et-Nesles, Aisne, France.

Son of John and Hannah Mitz; born March 2, 1892, Wades- ville, Posey County, Ind. Farm laborer. Entered service January 24, 1918, Mt. Vernon, Ind. Died of pneumonia October 29, 1918, in hospital, Allery France. Buried at Allery, France.

Vernon, Ind. Sent to Prudence Island, Washington. Released from service,-subject to call. Died of tuberculosis while in care of Government, April 7, 1920, Tucson, Ariz. Buried in Maple Hill Cemetery, New Harmony, Ind.

Fate unknown.

Overseas October, 1918; assigned to 318th Motor Truck Company. Killed in automobile accident at St. Nazaire, May 31, 1919. Buried at St. Nazaire, France. American Legion Post, Stewartsville, Ind., named in his honor.
