Arrived at Archangel, Russia, September 4, 1918, where he died of pneumonia, September 20, 1918, in British Hospital. Buried in Allied Cemetery, Archangel, Russia.

Served with American Army in Philippines until 1909, and the British Army in India until the beginning of the World War. Killed in British trenches in France (date unknown). Survived by widow, Effie Bennett, living in Eng- land. (Parents of deceased live in Paoli, Ind.)

Killed in action October 31, 1918, Ware- ghem, Belgium. Buried in American Cemetery, Ansegehm, Belgium. American Legion Post, French Lick, Ind., named in his honor.

Enlisted in Iowa National Guard April 12, 1917, Webster City, Iowa. Trained at Camp Dodge, Iowa; and Camp Mills, N.Y. Assigned to Company C, 168th Infantry, 42nd (Rainbow) Division. Overseas November 14, 1917. Killed October 18, 1918, at Cote de Chatillon, during the Meuse Argonne Offensive. (Place of burial not known).
