BRAGG, OTTO LEWIS PRIVATE Son of Frank and Rhoda Bragg; born July 21, 1897, Argos, Marshall County, Ind. Telephone lineman, Marion, Ind. Entered service July 7, 1918, Marion, Ind. Sent to Camp Taylor, Ky .; assigned to Battery B, 13th Training Battalion, Field Artillery Replacement Draft. Transferred to Battery D, 4th Field Artillery. Died of pneumonia December 11, 1918. Buried in Thrailkill Cemetery, near Swayzee, Ind.


BUTTON, FRED WILLIAM - PRIVATE Son of George and Minerva Button; born February 28, 1896, Marion, Ind. Mechanic. Enlisted in U.S. Regular Army June 4, 1917, Ft. Thomas, Ky .; assigned to Battery C, 19th Field Artillery. Went overseas in March, 1918. In front line service for three months. Met his death November 20, 1918, by the accidental explosion of a German fuse. Buried in Grave No. 61, Sec. 17, Plot 2, Thiaucourt, Meurthe-et- Moselle, France.


CARTER, ASA GILBERT PRIVATE Son of Isaac L. and Mary Nancy Carter; born March 14, 1894, Jefferson Township, Grant County, Ind. Farmer. Entered service September 3, 1918, Upland, Ind. Sent to Camp Grant, Ill .; assigned to Company C, 5th Limited Service Regiment, 161st Depot Brigade. Died of pneumonia October 2, 1918, Camp Grant, Ill. Buried at Matthews, Ind. Sur- vived by widow, Avahnell Marley Carter, Summitville, Ind., and one son, Burr Eugene Carter (by first wife), Georgia Ricks Carter.

Born September 18, 1886, Hamburg, Germany. (Names of parents unknown). In 1910 he came to Marion, Ind., and was employed as a tailor. Enlisted in U.S. Regular Army February 13, 1915, and was sent to Jefferson Barracks, Mo. Transferred to Pensacola, Fla .; assigned to 5th Company, Coast Artillery Corps. Transferred to Camp Eustis, Va .; assigned to Battery A, 36th Coast Artillery Corps. Died of influenza October 12, 1918, Camp Eustis, and buried in the post cemetery at that place.


COX, HIRAM QUINCY PRIVATE


Son of Hiram Quincy and Rachael Ewing Cox; born June 12, 1894, Alexandria, Madison County, Ind. Family moved to Grant County in 1895. Laborer. Enlisted in U.S. Regular Army May 8, 1917, Marion, Ind. Sent to Ft. Thomas, Ky. Transferred to Syracuse, N. Y .; assigned to Company C, 5th Machine Gun Battalion. Overseas in September, 1917. Killed in action June 6, 1918, in Chateau-Thierry Sector. Buried in American Cemetery, Belleau, Aisne. The American Legion Post, Fairmount, Ind., named in his honor.


CRAIG, HARRY LEE SERGEANT


Son of Alexander and Orpha Craig; born May 30, 1894, Marion, Ind. Shoemaker. Enlisted in U.S. Regular Army December 15, 1917, Marion, Ind. Sent to Jefferson Barracks, Mo .; assigned to Company G, 23rd Regiment, Engineering Corps. Transferred to Camp Meade, Md. Overseas in June, 1918. Participated in battles of St. Mihiel, and St. Remy. Died of pneumonia February 10, 1919, Courancy, France. Buried, Courancy. Survived by widow, Clara May Chappell Craig, Ft. Wayne, Ind.


CREEK, CHARLES EVERETT WAGONER


Son of Charles and Catherine Creek; born October 24, 1889, Fairmount, Grant County, Ind. Mechanic. Enlisted in Indiana National Guard, Marion, Ind. April 6, 1917. Sent to Camp Shelby, Miss. Assigned to Ambulance Company, 38th Division. Transferred to Mineola, L. I. Assigned as Wagoner. Died of pneumonia October 10, 1918, at Mineola Hospital, Camp Mills. Buried in Park Cemetery, Fairmount, Ind. Survived by widow, Clara Irwin Creek.

Son of Abner C. and Belle Cromwell; born January 18, 1900, Marion, Ind. Porter. Entered service December 15, 1917. Sent to Jefferson Barracks, Mo .; assigned to Company B, 370th Infantry. Transferred to Newport News, Va. Died of pneu- monia April 18, 1918, in the Embarkation Hospital, Newport News, Va. Buried in Military Cemetery, Hampton Roads, Va.

Son of John R. and Josephine Delong; born November 21, 1897, Jonesboro, Grant County, Ind. Farmer. Entered service August 15, 1918, Marion, Ind. Sent to Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce School for mechanical training. Later transferred to Ft. Wayne, Mich., where he died of apoplexy, December 17, 1918. Buried in I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Gas City, Grant County, Ind.

Son of Frank and Henrietta Denton; born April 23, 1895, Marion, Ind. Moulder. Entered service August 28, 1918, Marion, and was sent to Camp Custer, Mich. Assigned to Company B, 78th Infantry. Died of pneumonia October 9, 1918, Camp Custer, Mich. Buried in Marion, Ind.

Sent to Camp Taylor, Ky .; transferred to Camp Mcclellan, Ala .; assigned to Battery D, 36th Field Artillery. Died of pneumonia October 13, 1918. Buried in Earlham Cemetery, Richmond, Ind. Survived by widow, Belva Shearer Droud, and one daughter, Olive Lavon Droud, Bloomington, Ind.


ETTER, FRANK MELVIN SERGEANT


Son of Joseph and Adelaide Etter; born November 25, 1893, Marion, Ind. Traveling salesman. Entered service May 17, 1917, Pittsburg, Pa. Sent to Ft. Benjamin Harrison, Ind .; assigned to Medical Detachment. Transferred to Camp Custer, Mich .; assigned to Company C, 339th Infantry. Overseas in July, 1918. Sent to Russian Front in August, 1918. Died February 6, 1919, Archangel, Russia, from wounds received in action. Body returned to U.S., and buried in I.O.O.F. Ceme- tery, Marion, Ind.
