Son of Robert and Annie Colman (Griffies); born April 15, 1897, Tranmere Cheshire, England. Came to Montgomery County, Ind., in 1912. Student. Enlisted in Canadian Army September 13, 1915, Port Arthur, Ontario, Canada. Received training at Gresley Park and Port Arthur, Canada. Assigned to Company C, 52nd Battalion, 3rd Canadian Division. Over- seas November 23, 1915. Killed in the battle of Lens, June 30, 1917. Buried in Barlin Military Extension Cemetery, near Bethune.
COOK, C. MELVIN PRIVATE Son of Lincoln and Alice Cook; born January 20, 1896, Darlington, Montgomery County, Ind. Blacksmith. Enlisted June 17, 1917, Crawfordsville, Ind. Sent to Ft. Benjamin Har- rison, Ind .; assigned to Headquarters Company, 150th Field Artillery. Transferred to Camp Mills, N. Y .; thence to Newport News, Va. While recovering from measles, tuberculosis de- veloped. Discharged January 29, 1918. Died September 14, 1919, Crawfordsville, Ind., from tuberculosis contracted while in service. Buried in Rice Cemetery, Montgomery County, Ind.

Enlisted in U.S. Regular Army April 17, 1917, Indianapolis, Ind. Sent to Jefferson Barracks; transferred to Ft. Douglas, Ariz .; assigned to Company G, 18th Infantry, 1st Division. Went overseas July 14, 1917. Killed in action, battle of Soissons, July 21, 1918, near Buzancy. Buried near Soissons, France. American Legion Post, Crawfordsville, Ind., named in his honor.

Sent to Camp Shelby, Miss .; assigned to Automatic Replacement Draft, and was with Company D, 4th Infantry, at time of death. Went overseas June 12, 1918. Killed in action in the Meuse-Argonne Offensive, October 4, 1918 (Burial place not known.)
DWIGGINS, RUSSELL HARRISON - 1ST LIEUTENANT Son of Charles and Susannah Dwiggins; born June 27, 1896, Rossville, Ill. Moved to Montgomery County, Ind., 1906. Graduate of Purdue University. Chautauqua entertainer. Entered Officers' Training School at Ft. Benjamin Harrison, Ind., May 1917. Transferred to Aviation Section. Sent to Columbus Barracks, Ohio; then to Ellington Field, Tex., where he was killed in aeroplane accident, April 4, 1918. Buried at Waynetown, Ind. Survived by widow, Mabel E. Dwiggins, and one son, Gerald Russell Dwiggins, Wallace, Ind.

Son of Milton Voorhees and Violatta Leona Faust; born May 27, 1898, Darlington, Ind. Office employe. Entered service March 25, 1918, Chicago, Ill. Assigned to Coast Guards. Trained at New York, and Philadelphia. Did con- voy duty during the war, and was on the ill-fated Tampa, when it was destroyed in Bristol Channel, September 26, 1918. Body was never recovered.
HARSHBARGER, EVERETT LEONARD APPRENTICE SEAMAN Son of George W. and Eva Jane Harshbarger; born August 25, 1895, Ladoga, Montgomery County, Ind. Educated in Purdue University. Farmer. Entered U.S. Navy June 6, 1918, Chicago, III. Sent to Great Lakes Naval Training Station, Ill., where he contracted pneumonia and died, January 1, 1919. Buried in Cemetery at Ladoga, Montgomery County, Ind.
