There are very few families that have had so many children born in town as the Paul Clark family. Though only one of his own chil- dren were natives of Royalton, nearly all of the children of his sons, Wright, Arunah, and Mitchell, were born in town, and all had large families. So far as is known not one of his descendants is now a resi- dent of Royalton.

The Cleveland family is of Anglo-Saxon ancestry. Moses came from Ipswich, Eng., about 1635, and settled in Woburn, Mass. The motto on their coat of arms is "Pro deo et patria."

Mr. Cloud removed from Norwich to Royalton in March, 1884. He bought the Martin Joiner farm below Royalton vil- lage in 1868. His son, Edwin B., lived on this farm a number of years, but removed to Coopersville, Mich., in 1876. His son, Adnah, also lived on the farm, removing from Norwich in 1876, and he died on this farm. He has lived for a number of years with his daughters, Delia and Katie, below S. Royalton. His picture can be seen in the cut of old people now living in town. i. Edwin Blake, b. Mar. 17, 1844; d. Mr. D. is a successful farmer, and his home has all the modern conveniences. Except for voting and tax paying he is a Royalton man. He was in Norwich Univ., 1878-80. His two daughters are teachers in Mass.

Benjamin Cole was the fifth of ten children, and had six brothers. He with four of them, Daniel, Asa, Ebenezer, and Samuel, once attended church in Morristown. The shortest of the five was 6 ft. 2 in., and the youngest seventy-five. On Jan. 28, 1795, Benjamin bought 24 Dutch. He afterwards owned the Daniel Havens farm, and claimed to have assisted in removing the body of Thomas Pember to Randolph for burial. He finally settled on the Haynes farm, taking it when only one acre was cleared and the frame of a house on it. He was a Revolutionary soldier.

Elijah with Perley was first listed in 1794. The family tra- dition is that he came to town in 1792. The two in May bought 180 acres in 30 L. A. The Corbin farm was one of the best in town. Mr. Corbin was a domestic man, not seeming to care much for political preferment, but the family has ever been counted among the most reliable and desirable citizens.

Franklin not only made a happy home for his own large family, but for two brothers and three sisters. He was a pros- perous farmer and exemplary man.

Mrs. Corbin was for many years the organist in the church and a singer in the choir.
