HISTORY OF ROYALTON, VERMONT
25, 1836, Pomfret; res. now S. Roy. Mr. Lovejoy was seven years old when his father rem. from Sharon to Royalton. The rest of his life was spent on the farm where his grandmother and father lived and died, a part of an original lot of Robert Havens, his maternal great-grandfather. The brick house was built by Amos Robinson. Storrs Hall probably lived there be- fore Mr. Robinson owned it. Mr. Lovejoy was an industrious farmer, a generous neighbor, kind to his family, and of a cheer- ful temperament. He had a fund of humorous anecdotes. He was often called upon to minister to sick neighbors, and was especially skilled as a nurse. He held different town offices, including justice of the peace and selectman, and was employed in settling estates. He and his young wife assumed the care of his aged parents, to whom they long tenderly ministered. Mrs. Lovejoy was a teacher before her marriage, and educated in the high school of Hosea Doton, A.
