WARSAW. The judicial seat of Kosciusko county, is an important incor- porated city of 3,100 inhabitants, located near the Tippecanoe river on line of P Ft W & C and C W & M Rys, 122 miles north of Indianapolis, and 109 east of Chicago. This is quite a noted summer resort, sur- rounded by Pike, Eagle and Center lakes, which are famous for excellent fishing and boating, and attract a large number of pleasure and health-seekers, during the summer months. Warsaw is a handsome business city, supplied with 5 churches, graded schools, a public library 3 hotels and 2 banks. The new court house, now nearing completion, is a model of archi- tectural beauty ; estimated cost of same, $225,000. The newspapers published here are known as the Times, daily, Wasp, issued daily and weekly, the Northern Indianian and National Union, weeklies, and the Dental Student, a quarterly publication. The chief industries in manufacture in- clude 2 foundries, a planing mill, saw mill, 2 flour mills, cooper shop, furniture factory and large bentwood works, that manufacture woodwork for plows and other agricultural implements. The judicial seat of Daviess county, is a flourishing city of 5,000 inhabitants, situated at the crossing of O & M and E W & B R Rs, 19 miles east of Vincennes, 136 southwest of Indian- apolis and 168 west of Cincinnati. The manufacturing industries of Washington, while not numerous, are substantial. They include 4 flour mills, 1 cooper shop, 2 foundries and 2 saw mills. Coal of a good quality is mined in the vicinity. Wash- ington was settled in 1817, and soon there- after was made the county seat, It was in- corporated a city in 1875, and is now a thrifty business place, containing excellent county buildings, good business blocks, 2 banks, 4 hotels, 7 churches, graded and
