DANVILLE. This progessive town of 2,000 inhabitants, the judicial seat of Hendricks county, is located on the I & St L Ry, 19 miles west of Indianapolis and 53 east of Terre Haute. Danville has a de- lightful location on high ground, quite un- dulating, and no town in the State is better drained or more healthy. It is a well built town, supplied with 6 churches- Methodist, Presbyterian, Christian, Friends and Baptist-1 graded school, 1 hotel, 2 banks, and the Central Normal College, an educational institution of great merit. The town has real and personal property (1883 assessment) aggregating $555,118. 3 news- papers are published, known as the Re- publican and Gazette, weekly publications, and the Normal Teacher, issued monthly.
