RUSHVILLE. This handsome in- corporated city of 3,500 inhabitants, the judicial seat of Rush county, is located on the CH & I, CC Br J M & I, CI St L & P and Ft W C & L R Rs, 39 miles southeast of Indianapolis and 84 northwest of Cin- cinnati. Rushville is in a prosperous financial and commercial condition, the entire debt amounting to only $15,000, while the assessed value of real and per- sonal property aggregates $1,300,000. The surrounding country is very productive and well adapted to grazing. This is noted as the most extensive blooded horse market in the State. The city is lighted with gas,
has a fire department, good county build- ings, 7 churches, high school, public hall, 2 banks and 2 hotels. The press is repre- sented by 3 weekly newspapers-the Graphic, Republican and Jacksonian. The chief in- dustries of manufacture include 3 planing mills, tile works, 3 flour mills, tile mill works, 5 saw mills, 2 furniture factories, and a grain drill factory.
