ORLEANS. The chief commercial and most important town in Orange coun- ty, is located in Orleans township, on the L'N A & C Ry, 8 miles due north of Paoli, the county seat. This is the business cen- ter and shipping station for nearly the en- tire county, and is a growing town of 1,000 inhabitants, supplied with 4 churches, a graded school, 2 hotels and a weekly news- paper-Examiner. The lumber trade is the most important here, as the town is sur- rounded by heavy forests, from which is cut and manufactured a large amount of lumber. Stage to Paoli, French Lick and Baden Springs.
