It was settled in 1825, and is now the chief com- mercial and manufacturing town of the county, surrounded by a rich agricultural district from which it derives its chief sup- port. Attica has 8 churches, a fine graded school of 9 departments, an opera house, public library, 2 banks and 2 weekly new- papers-Ledger and Herald. The water sup- ply here is obtained from a reservoir fed by natural springs. The chief manufac- turing establishments comprise 4 flour mills, 2 brick yards, wagon factory, drain tile works, 1 saw mill, machine shop, 2 carriage factories and 1 plaining mill.
