Editorial Department.

LEGRAND ATWOOD, M. D., Editor. FRANK M. RUMBOLD, M. D., Pub. and Proprietor.

ASSOCIATE EDITORS:

H. CHRISTOPHER, A. M., M. D., St. Joseph, Mo. WM. A. BYRD, M. D., Quincy, III. A. E. PRINCE, M. D., Jacksonville, Il1.

NINETY-SIX LARGE OCTAVO PAGES in each Issue, Printed on Excellent Paper and with good Type; the Leading and Representative MEDICAL PERIODICAL of the West; Full Reports of the St. Louis Medical Society and Local Socie- ties of the South and West.

This JOURNAL is now in the Fortieth year of its existence, being the oldest medical monthly in the United States; this alone speaks volumes to its credit.

PREMIUMS TO SUBSCRIBERS.

As an inducement to Subscribers to help us widen the circulation of the Journal we make the following proposition: To those who send us the names of four new subscribers with their remittences, we will credit with one years subscription or send them any Book, Journal or Instrument or anything else, costing not more than three dollars, this will also apply to those who are not subscribers.

In this way many may get Books or Instruments or may be able to pay up their back subscription when in arrears and when collections are hard, and, at the same time, assist us materially. We would request subscribers and physicians generally to send us any News Items that may be of interest to the General Profession. Notices of Removals, sale of Practice etc., will be published free. We will be pleased to do whatever we can to assist our patrons, in the way of purchase of Instruments, Books etc.

We eanestly hope that the medical profession, especially of the West, South and North, will give us their pecuniary as well as their literary support and will do all in their power to extend the circulation of the JOURNAL, by getting their Brother Practitioners to subscribe and contribute for it.
