WORTHINGTON. Was settled in 1850, incorporated in 1870, and is now a progressive business town of 1,300 inhabit- ants, located in Jefferson township, Greene county, on the I & V and T H & SER Rs, 8 miles northwest of Bloomfield court house and 72 southwest of Indianapolis. The town is on White river, at its conflu- ence with Eel river, which gives it most excellent water power. The bottom lands along these rivers are very rich and pro- ductive. Worthington contains 6 churches, a graded school, public hall, 1 bank and 3 hotels. Of the last mentioned, the Osborn House is decidedly the best. It is centrally located, and its table is first class. One weekly newspaper-The Times-is sus- tained.
