The act was committed in. the presence of his wife and non, Pred Yowler, and the sun's wife. The aul- cide followed an unusual episode Thursday in which Powier is said to have compelled Mrs Lafe Rist, Bos- ton school teacher, to accompany him to Carthage, after he bad succeeded in getting her to enter his car by ruse.
Persuaded to Leave Buggy. Fowler, It is said, persuaded Mr. Risk to leave her buggy, in which she was driving to her home from her school duties, and get- into bis car under the pretest that the county school superintendent had given hun Hotne papers to have her sign and the papers were at Boston. Mrs. Rist campited with his request, and when she remonstraird with him when be falled to turn on to the rond leading to Boston he is said to have produced a revolver and warned her that u she made muy outcry he would kill 'her.
