Farmer in Ozarks Region Is Killed By Adopted Youth


James W'right. a prominent farmer Ilving 15 miles south of Biand, was killed yesterday by the accidental discharge of an auto- matic shotgun carried by his 10- year-old adopted son while they and Wright's grandson were: squirrel hunting near the Wright; farm.


The adopted son had just shot a squirrel and while showing the kill W'right was struck In the head by, a load of shot. He died instantly. '

NINE brothers and sisters of the Coon family, who had not been united for almost 57 years, met in a reunion last Sunday, at the home of Dr. J. W. Coon, 1120 Robberson avenue.


With the exception of the parents. .he family was Intact. the nine brothers and sisters representing the entire group. Of the group. here are five men and fur women. whose average age is "2 and one- half yeare.

These nine brothers and elsters have 41. children. 96 grandchildren and 15 greatgrandchildren, all of whom are now living.


The reunion last Sunday formed ja reminder to many old veterans of this country regarding the "Coon barnfight," which was 'fought dur- ing the Civil war at the barnyard of the father and mother of the nine brothers and sisters. The ette of this battle was the home of Mr. and Mrs. Reason Coon, of Urbana, Missouri.
