N. B. BUTTON, 85, the oldest native of Houston and one of the pioneers of the Ozarks, died at his home. "Uncle Brant" Button I was born on the site of the town of Houston in 1842. He lived there all his life. What is now Texas county i was part of Pulaski county at the , time of his birth, later a part of Shannon county, and organized as : Texas county in 1845. He was a Confederate soldier under General James H. McBride. 1

INJURIES FATAL FOR MRS. LEAVITT


Wife of Pioneer Texas County Merchant Dies in Spring- field Hospital


Injuries suffered when she was run down by a speeding motor car near her home last Friday proved fatal late last night to Mrs. A. E. Leavitt, 76. wife of a pioneer Hous- ton. Mo., merchant.

Mrs. Leavitt died of a fractured skull In the Springfield Baptist hog -! pital at 12:10 o'clock. Attending physicians had held little hope for her recovery since she was brought here for an operation early Satur- dạy ..

Mra. Leavitt was crossing U. S. Highway H after a visit to a nolgh- bor Friday when she was struck by a car driven by a . Bimmoms, Mog citizen. Mrs. Leavitt had lived in Hous- - ton for the past 60 years, her hus- band owning the largest dry goods store in Texas county. Mr. Leavitt retired several years ago, placing the business in charge of his aon Roscoe. In addition to her hua- band and Rescue Leavitt, Mrs. Leavitt Is survived by another son. Lloyd S. Leavitt. of Portland, Ore- con, and a daughter. Mrs. Genevieve Cravens of Twin Falls, Idaho.

ONLY a few hours after his 17- year-old wife obtained a di- Force in circut court before Judge Quy D. Kirby Monday, Cecil Bas well, 22. was married to Mine Nellie Rarlow by Justice Charles M. Bootman, it was learned yee- terday.


Boswell first filed suit for di- force against his young wife. She answered with a cross petition, charging he had deserted her and taken all groceries and supplies from their home. They were mar- ried May 16. 1924. she said. and last March the- gave birth to a son. GEORGE B. RAYFIELD Funeral . services for George H. Rayfield, 58. who died Monday night at his home. Mo., who died In a hospital here Tuesday night of Injuries suffered when she. was ! ·run down by a motor car near her home, was taken overland to Hous- ton by the Alma Lohmeyer funeral home yesterday. The marriage of. Miss Artie Mc. Neally, daughter of Mr. and Mro. I. Z. MoNeally of Hartville. Mo .. and Mr. William Roscoe Tuter, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Tuter of Brookline, Mo., took place last night at the home of Judge R. H. Trevathan at 8 o'clock. The couple was attended by a number of guests, including Misses Marie Tuter, Grace Tuter, Mildred Jackson, Eva Grisham. Edith Johnson, . Nina Johnson, Amelia Oepting. Erna Qop- ting. Mossrs.
