Mr Willard was born in Clark county. Illinois, in 1341. He en- listed in the civil war in August, 1661 in the First Milesouri calvary. He was wounded while serving in Arkansas in November, 1862, and was discharged from the service in January, 1863.
He reinlisted in February, 1863 in the 62nd Illinole infantry and saw service in Missouri and Arkan- 6A8. At the close of the war. he went to Laclede county. Missouri. and settled in Gasconade township. He has several sons and grandsons, prominent in business and civic affairs of the southwest.

Just recently his name was chosen to the 1927 Central States volume of "Who's Who In America.". He plans to continue his literary work. Hoover. 60. well known former cafe owner here. missing since July 13. was found this att. arnoon at the wheel of his motor car under 20 feet of water In an old brickyard pond In the south- east part of the city. The car was discovered by boys who had been swimming and diving in the pond. l'ile and the corner believe 'Hoover was crowded off the road, Is another motorist, or was un- able to see the road because of a. peared. He had to pass the pond to reach the home of a business prospect with whom he lind an en- · gagement.
