In a bleak setting of snow and cold, brief and simple funeral services were held at the grave, with a shiver- ing group of neighbors and friends lu attendance.


The three perished in a fire that destroyed the Ambler home. Four other members of the family. the father and three children, were in- Jured in the tragedy. They are in a! hospital at Lamar, but all will re -. corer. Only one member of the fam- ily of eight escaped Injury. She is a daughter. Ardena. 17 years old. and declared atsolaKTAOIN.


Coroner Carl Kopante of Barton county, cold po inquest would be conducted into the deaths. He made and investigation and declared the tragedy to have been "a sad acci- Ident." He belleres the mother and two children. who were in bed when in alove exploded, causing the fire were ruffoosted before they were able to escape.

of Mr. A Mrs. Overge Moore, Who live in the Dry Hollow community south of Crane, was instantly killed when a falling tree caught him and broke his neck.

KIRBY GRANTS DIVORCES Judge Quy D. Kirby yesterday pre- aided in both divisions of the circuit court. due to Judge Warren White's absence. Several motions were heard in cach division, also several default decrees of divorce were granted. V. : , :


In divialon one Judge Kirby'granted Ella M. Moore a divorce from Will H. ! Moore and allowed the plaintiff $25 for attorney fees. In division two ho granted Samuel O. Curry a divorce from Cora Curry, and Hapel Hill Hoops a decree of divorce from Claude Hoops. In the latter case the court ciso granted the plaintiff the custody 101 a minor child. In the divorce action of Susle Nance Against Jesso Nance, the court ordered an alice summons imued to Jackson county.

Page 2: Marshall Clark, 72, died at the county farm. He was formerly a farmer near Bowers' Mill.


Mr. and Mrs. John Wooten of Bowers' Mill celebrated their golden wedding anniversary. They were married January 1, 1876, near where they now live. THey have three living children: George L. Wooten of Carthage, Mo .; Frank Wooten of Red Oak and J. C. Wooten of Bowers Mill. One daughter died a few years ago. There are 19 grandchildren and one great grandchild. The latter is John Myron Cathers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Cathers of Carthage.


Mrs. A. Allen, living two miles east of Miller, died Tuesday and was buried in Sycamore cemetery. She is survived by three sons and one daughter.


Fred Reinsmith of Monett and Miss Edith Fleetwood of Wentworth were married January 6.
